Teenage feelings can be intense and confusing, and even harder when you’re stuck in one house with people you’ve "lost" and suddenly felt something for again and people you've developed new feelings with. The butterflies and spark sound cute, but anyone who's ever felt them at 18 knows they're never that simple.
That's what Miguel Vergara, Eliza Borromeo, and Marco Masa went through in "Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition 2.0," as they got caught up in a complicated love triangle.
But more than just kilig or choosing your fighter for Eliza’s heart (Team EliCo vs Team EliGuel!) or her living her 'ganda problems' arc, this is a relatable coming-of-age plotline where young people choose "pagpapakatotoo" in trying to make sense of their emotions, not as celebrities, but as real, vulnerable teens just trying to be true to what they feel.
So how did they get caught in this situation? Let's connect all the angles!
POINT A: The 'base' of friendship
Before the triangle even took shape, the connections were already there. As early as the first few days in Bahay Ni Kuya, there was already tension between Eliza and Miguel, which stemmed from their shared history, a.k.a. a situationship that never really got the closure it needed.
Day 3
On the first week when the theme of the housemates’ activities and tasks was “multo,” the "ghost" between Eliza and Miguel began haunting them too. At one point, Krystal Mejes asked Eliza about her friendship with Miguel, saying, “Hindi ka na umaasa?”
Eliza uttered, "Hindi na," to which Krystal responded, "Pero gusto mo siyang kausapin? Like, i-clear up na, 'Bakit mo ginawa 'yon? Akala ko ba there was something going on."
It was revealed that Eliza and Miguel first had “something” back when they worked on a previous project. Even though it was clear to both of them that they were just good friends, Eliza couldn’t help but read into the little things Miguel did, like when he asked about her favorite flowers because he said he wanted to give her some, only to take it back right after, "Bibigyan niya daw ako, pero sabi niya, 'Hindi, joke lang, joke lang. Hindi muna ngayon. We're good friends muna.' So, I was like, 'Okay, sige.'"
Miguel eventually drifted away, and it was only inside the “PBB” house that they crossed paths again, which made Eliza realize she was still affected since they never really talked things through about their confusing “relationship.” She admittedly felt awkward but didn’t want to force any interaction with Miguel anymore. "Hindi ko alam kung delulu lang ako," she opened up to Krystal, who thought, "Hindi ka aasa kung hindi ka pinaasa."
It almost felt like Kuya played along with the awkwardness between the two, as he paired them up in facing a bunch of scare surprises inside the house. Scary when feelings suddenly hit you, right?
Day 4
Just as Eliza was trying to process Miguel’s presence in the house and the unresolved history between them, her attention slowly started leaning toward Marco, who openly admitted that he wanted to get to know her more.
Marco approached Eliza, who was alone at the time, and told her that she seemed too quiet, which sparked his curiosity. In the days that followed, the two grew closer as their conversations became more frequent.
Day 10
The other housemates also started noticing Eliza’s deepening closeness with Marco, especially her friends Carmelle Collado and Krystal, who directly asked her to choose between the two guys. Surprisingly, Eliza said she already considers Marco a best friend.
Day 15
But when the housemates (Eliza, Miguel, Krystal, Carmelle, and Lella Ford) came up with a game where they could say anything to an anonymous person. Eliza threw a “secret” message to Miguel, “Hindi mo man lang ba susubukan?” No name was mentioned, but it seemed like Miguel caught the hint, prompting him to answer back, "Dapat nga, kaso..."
Following that back-and-forth, Miguel later found the right moment to talk to Eliza. “Alam mo, Eliza,” he started, “I don’t think this is the right place to say, or… you have to think about it also.” Eliza explained that she was just confused due to their unclear conversations, which Miguel also acknowledged as he admitted he himself was still trying to figure things out.
Later that night, their conversation continued. "If you're happy, okay na ako," Miguel mumbled. Confused, Eliza replied, "Huh? Ano bang nararamdaman mo... para sa akin... sa atin..."
"I wasn't sure at first, but noong nakasama kita dito, I felt more," Miguel confessed. "Pero I'm trying not to anymore kasi nga I see you're much happier, that's why I'm being more distant to you now, kasi I want you to... na hindi mo na ako maisip."
Eliza reponded, "Bago pumasok [dito sa bahay], magulo na rin naman na sa akin. Pero bago, bago pa 'yun, ikaw talaga gusto ko." This led Miguel to admit, "That time also, it was low, pero I was gaining feelings also. Pero it was too fast for me." Miguel then apologized for suddenly disappearing from Eliza’s world before, but insisted that if she was happy, then he was happy too.
When he said he was happy for her, he was referring to the growing and obvious closeness between her and Marco.
POINT B: The 'angle' shifts
In a crazy coincidence, Marco and Miguel were practically childhood friends, batchmates as Kapamilya child stars who once even played brothers in one teleserye before. And as if reminiscent of their roles, some kind of unspoken 'bro code' seemed to be in place between them.
Day 20
In the confession room, Marco admitted to Big Brother that he and Eliza gelled well, "'Yung mga ginagawa niya, Kuya, nagbibigay rin sa akin ng saya at peace of mind." Even the other housemates noticed their sweet moments together. In one of their conversations, he directly asked her, “How do I make you feel?” Eliza responded, "Kapag tinatanong ako, 'Are you happy?' Kasama ka doon sa reasons kung bakit masaya ako, at saka komportable ako sa'yo."
But it was also around this time that Marco realized he needed to set boundaries with his closeness to Eliza, especially knowing the situation between her and Miguel.
Day 22
Being straightforward and honest, Marco told her, "Nagwo-worry lang ako nang slight. Hindi ko naman alam na may something... In the first place pinu-push ko nga kayo [ni Miguel]." He added, "I'm happy when I'm with you, ayaw ko lang na may masira, lalo na kaibigan ko kayo parehas... Kasi it's you guys that had something and I just came in."
After this, Eliza asked for some time alone, but later in the confession room, she reflected, "Sinabi [ni Marco] na we're friends pero parang sa pinapakita at pinaparamdam niya po, hindi naman pang-friends lang."
Meanwhile, in another corner of this triangle, Miguel found support from Eliza's friends, Carmelle and Krystal, who told him, half-joking but half-serious, that if he wanted to defend his territory, he should go ahead and make his intentions clear. Miguel seemed to find the courage to fight for her after that confidence boost from their friends.
At that point, he decided to finally wear his heart on his sleeve, admitting that being with her inside the house made him see a side of her that bolstered his feelings. He showed that he wasn’t ready to give up just yet, telling Eliza, “I hope I could still have a chance sa’yo because my feelings are stronger for you now, and I’m sure na one hundred percent. I’ll try my best to show it to you. I’ll try to make you feel special… You don’t have to do the same thing but I just want you to hear me out and huwag mo ako itaboy.”
Eliza, however, hinted at a change of heart. “Nawawala na nga kung anuman 'yung nararamdaman ko sa'yo tapos makikita pala kita araw-araw. Tapos, ako, may nakikilala ako dito, [si Marco]. Parang lahat naman nakakapansin na parang araw-araw may sarili kaming mundo.”
Miguel was determined to fight for her. Marco, on the other hand, had already made peace with letting go. But Eliza found herself caught in the middle—unsure if it was her feelings or just bad timing. Because just when she was starting to like Marco, he was already ready to step aside. And just when she was ready to let go of Miguel, that’s when he decided to stay and fight.
Day 24
During the second group formation, Eliza earned a spot as one of the leaders. Miguel admitted he had hoped she would choose him as her member, but she picked Marco instead.
Day 35
In her live talk show titled “Eli Unfiltered: The Life of a Lucky Girl,” which was part of the weekly task for the nominated housemates, Eliza gave a revealing answer to Lella, who acted as one of the hosts, when asked to choose between “’yung nauna” and “yung kararating lang,” clear allusion to Miguel and Marco, respectively.
Eliza made her pick, "'Yung kakarating lang." Unbeknownst to her, the other housemates were watching the talk show. And when he heard Eliza’s choice, Miguel felt like it was the answer he had been waiting for.
Day 36
It almost felt like fate was playing tricks on them, because right after that low-key closure, Eliza, alongside Marco—the one she chose—got evicted from Bahay Ni Kuya.
POINT C: Feelings at the apex
Day 82
Destiny still had a few more plot twists in store, as Eliza and Marco managed to return to the house after defeating their respective opponents in the wildcard task. It was as if Miguel’s heart started beating for her again the moment Eliza walked back in. He was the first to approach Eliza and pull her into a hug when she stepped out of the garden area. “That hug was one of the nicest hugs I felt in a while,” he shared.
Day 94
After the wildcard round, Eliza, Marco, and Miguel tried to prioritize their individual goals over their feelings, especially with how intense the three LigTask challenges became for their respective groups the week after. Marco and Miguel ended up in the same group, while Eliza was assigned to a different team. But when Eliza’s Solid Six got nominated, she leaned on Miguel to make herself feel better, which hinted a lot about who she was “choosing” this time.
Day 99
As part of a special task for the nominees, they were asked to choose one person they wanted to cook for and eat with, for which she picked Miguel, as she wanted to take the chance to apologize. "Nasaktan din kita no'ng time na 'yun," she expressed, to which he maintained, "Sinabi ko naman sa'yo na you're special sa akin and I think I'm really open about that."
Eliza also told him that she hopes whatever they built inside the house wouldn’t change once they’re outside. "Hindi talaga," Miguel assured her. "We made a promise." That promise was sealed with their matching rings, reminders that that they would always support each other. For Eliza, the moment meant a lot, as she didn’t want to leave the house with regrets over unsaid words and what ifs.
On the 6th Eviction Night, Eliza was eliminated for the second time, but she left on a happier note after she and Miguel became more open about their friendship. And as she said her goodbyes to the housemates, Miguel leaned in and kissed her forehead.
From the boys’ P.O.V., both Miguel and Marco felt the weight of Eliza’s exit. Sadness was written all over Miguel’s face while his housemates tried to comfort him. "Iniwan na naman niya ako," he whispered. "Destiny is so cruel. Pinaglayo kami no'ng una and then put us together again, and then take her away again."
“She’s one of the most lovable people I know.” Now he's certain that Eliza's unexpected wildcard comeback made him realize just how much she mattered to him, "Medyo complicated kapag kasama ko siya, pero palagi akong masaya, Kuya, kapag kasama ko po siya," he told Big Brother in the confession room.
The eviction also hit Marco hard, knowing that he and Eliza shared such a parallel path—from being evicted at the same time to making a comeback as wildcard entries together. What worries him is the thought of Eliza facing the outside world alone, "Wala ako, wala kami sa tabi niya para iparamdam sa kan'ya 'yung support," Marco expressed in the confession room.
For now, Miguel and Marco remain inside the house. But as Big Brother would say, “nasa labas ang tunay na laban.” There’s still so much more waiting for this trio in the outside world—and with everything they’ve learned in Bahay Ni Kuya, they might see their feelings from a different and better angle.
