Fearing that trouble and commotion would surely spark once Rigor (John Estrada) sees her at the wake of their beloved youngest child, Santino (Ron Martin), Mando (Allan Paule) immediately approached Marites (Cherry Pie Picache) upon seeing her arrive at the wake.
He attempted to stop her from entering their house by standing in her way and pleading with her not to push through with her plan, but to no avail as Marites refused to be held back. Driven by grief and desperation, she had managed to fight against his restraint and made her way inside.
Overcome with anguish, Marites collapsed onto the floor and wailed uncontrollably upon seeing Santino’s coffin. Mando once again desperately attempted to stop her from moving toward Santino’s body, yet Marites was still strong enough to break away from him and managed to come close and look upon the face of her lifeless child.
Their fondest and most unforgettable moments together flashed before the mind of Marites, such as her heart-to-heart conversation with him about pursuing his dream of becoming a professional boxer.
Although he clearly understood the immense pain that his friends were going through in spite of not having a child of her own, Mando once again tried to beg Marites to leave before Rigor could catch her there. But Marites was firm not to leave the side of Santino, telling Mando that she didn’t care anymore what could happen once Rigor found out that she was there.
In the end, Mando still succeeded in forcibly taking the weeping Marites away from Santino’s casket and out of the house.
