Taking a break from the action-packed encounters, intense confrontations, and heart-rending dramas every weeknight in “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” its headliners Coco Martin and Maris Racal joined their fellow Kapamilya stars at the “ALL2Gether Kapamilya: A Grand Pasasalamat” celebration presented by “ASAP” on February 1, Sunday.
Being the undisputed top-rating teleserye on primetime, the two made a grand entrance by recreating the remarkable trending scene of their characters Tanggol Montenegro and Ponggay Garcia, in which she rode pillion to Tanggol while dressed in a sexy angel costume as they escaped from the Mondragon family and their henchmen using his motorcycle. Coco and Maris exuded the same level of swagger as they cruised along the ABS-CBN center road going to the studio of “ASAP.”
The angas they initially displayed suddenly vanished as soon as they started singing the classic Eraserheads hit “Ligaya,” with Coco and Maris showcasing their playful facets as they teased each other onstage. They even stepped down from the stage and mingled with the studio audience, who were obviously enjoying their performance.
As soon as their number was done, they were joined by “ASAP” hosts Zsa Zsa Padilla, Martin Nievera, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Gary Valenciano, Robi Domingo, Janine Gutierrez, and Donny Pangilinan, who congratulated them for the consistent success of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.”
“Maraming, maraming salamat po sa lahat ng ating mga Kapamilya sa buong Pilipinas at sa buong mundo. Dahil po sa inyo, patuloy po naming pinagbubuti ang lahat po ng aming mga trabaho. Kayo po ang aming inspirasyon sa araw-araw ng aming buhay. Maraming, maraming salamat po,” Coco stated.
Then he added, “Maraming pagkakataon na punong-puno ng pagsubok ang ABS-CBN. Maraming pagkakataon na iniisip namin, ‘Makakayanan pa ba namin ito?’ Pero dahil po sa aming mga Kapamilya at sa aming mga partners, patuloy po kaming lumalaban, bumabangon at ipagpapatuloy po naming itaguyod ang ating istasyon para makapagbigay ng saya at inspirasyon para sa lahat ng mga Pilipino.”
Maris, meanwhile, conveyed that it has always been a delight for her to perform and offer her talent to every Kapamilya; thus, she wholeheartedly thanks them for the unwavering support. She then enthusiastically invited everyone to keep on watching “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.”
The Primetime King reiterated his gratitude to everyone, saying, “Maraming, maraming salamat po sa inyo. Lagi po kayong nandiyan kahit nasaan kami. Kayo ang dahilan kung bakit lalong lumalakas ang aming loob at lalo po kaming sumisipag sa araw-araw para pagbutihin po ang aming mga trabaho. Kayo po ang aming inspirasyon.” He ended his statement with his signature way of blurting out “I love you.”
