Upon Liezel’s (Mary Joy Apostol) shocking and unforeseen confession about her secret relationship with Louisa (Mutya Orquia), Alice (Janella Salvador), Mel (Sue Ramirez), and Beth (Charlie Dizon) voice their doubts, prompting Liezel to question whether they are having trouble understanding or simply accepting the truth.
Once believing she would take the secret to her grave, Liezel seizes the chance to fully tell her and Louisa’s story of how they fell in love, beginning with how rumors shaped Louisa’s poor reputation among the people of Amurao, including Liezel’s father, Pastor Samuel.
Like the others in Amurao, young Liezel (Kolette Madelo) had accepted and followed their ill-founded beliefs about Louisa, making her first meeting with her a bitter one. At the time, Liezel had gone to see Angelo at Vangie’s café, where he worked alongside Louisa. Later, she told Angelo to stay away from Louisa.
Soon after, at Amurao High, Liezel began to realize how gossip had been destroying Louisa’s reputation when she overheard Piolo and his clique. Piolo boasted about evading criticism by making Louisa a scapegoat, while one of his friends went even further by openly objectifying Louisa.
Piolo’s mother only added to the fiasco; she went to Amurao High and humiliated the unsuspecting Louisa. Her plan failed, however, as Louisa fought back—though her reputation remained tarnished. It was then that Liezel decided to learn more about Louisa beyond the stories that had been falsely crafted about her.
Moments later, Liezel visited the café again and deliberately let her pen fall, hoping to catch Louisa’s attention and apologize for judging her too quickly. Accustomed to negativity, Louisa initially brushed it off—until Liezel insisted that she didn’t want to be like the rest of Amurao in being harsh toward her.
This led to many of their hangouts, including one in which they witnessed a confrontation over an extramarital affair between a wife and her husband’s mistress—an incident that introduced them to the term "bana," meaning “husband” in the Visayan language.
As the days passed, the two girls grew closer, with Liezel often meeting Louisa to confide in her about her family problems. Eventually, Liezel hinted that her feelings for Louisa had changed—feelings that intensified when Louisa mentioned leaving Amurao with young Erica (Krystal Mejes) after graduation.
In one significant instance, Louisa could no longer bear the sudden silence and distance from Liezel, so she decided to confront her. During their conversation, they confessed to each other, with Liezel admitting that her feelings for Louisa were stronger and deeper than they had ever been for Angelo—yet she still believed it was wrong to have such a connection between two girls.
Louisa gently insisted that it wasn’t wrong and explained that she had fallen for Liezel the moment she apologized and Louisa saw her true self.
