Following the latest eviction, it was time once again for the remaining housemates to take on another group formation task in the January 19 episode of "Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition 2.0." But of course, Kuya had a new plot twist prepared in creating the teams.
Unlike the earlier groupings where only the chosen leaders determined everyone’s fate, this time, each housemate had the freedom to decide which team they wanted to join.
One by one, they were to toss a small sandbag onto the rooftop of a miniature house perched on a tall pole. Once successful, that housemate would then select which of the two teams they wanted to be part of. Each side needed to have an equal number of Kapamilya and Kapuso housemates, and an even count of male and female players. Meaning, with four boys in total, two were to be assigned to each group.
Since the housemates were also the ones to decide the order in which they’d take their turns, they agreed to simply follow the seating arrangement they had prior to Big Brother’s announcement. In the first round, Joaquin Arce went ahead but no one managed to land their sandbag at first. Eventually, Big Brother provided the girls with a small platform to help them out.
In the second round, Joaquin was the first to successfully hit the target, which meant he was also the first to sit down on one of the benches and align himself with Group 1. While others were still attempting, some had already started weighing their choices. Ashley Sarmiento wished to be teamed up with wildcard returnee Marco Masa. Caprice Cayetano also said, “Gusto ko pong mabalik sa Smiling Angels at makagrupo sina Marco," referring to her previous group with Ashley and Miguel Vergara.
It took several more rounds before Ashley finally landed hers. As the second housemate to lock in a choice, she picked the left-side bench—Group 2. Lella Ford followed as the third and chose to join Ashley in Group 2, a decision that made Joaquin a little sad, but he accepted it wholeheartedly.
Miguel picked next and also opted for Group 2. That meant only one Kapamilya member could still be added to that team—and that slot would go to either Carmelle Collado, Krystal Mejes, or Eliza Borromeo.
Marco went up next and picked Group 2 as well, since, like Ashley, he wanted to be in the same lineup. Because of this, the last remaining male housemate, Heath Jornales, automatically landed in Group 1 alongside Joaquin.
After an hour and a half, six female housemates were still trying to complete the task. Krystal, who looked like she was just going with the flow at that point, was surprised when she finally managed to land her sandbag. Though torn at first, she eventually went with Group 2. Since all Kapamilya slots in that group were now filled, Carmelle and Eliza were automatically assigned to Group 1.
Soon after, Princess Aliyah became the third-to-the-last to finish the challenge. She selected Group 2 because her closest friends were there and she was excited to finally team up with Marco as well. That meant Sofia Pablo and Caprice completed the members of Group 1.
Once the teams were finalized, they started brainstorming names. The first group—Joaquin, Sofia, Eliza, Caprice, Carmelle, and Heath—called themselves ‘Solid Six.’ Meanwhile, Miguel, Krystal, Princess, Lella, Ashley, and Marco came up with the name ‘Striving Feathers.’
Exciting episodes are coming, as Big Brother announced that the two teams will go head-to-head in various tasks throughout the week. Catch “PBB Collab 2.0,” available online via livestreams on the PBB YouTube Channel, Kapamilya Online Live (KOL), and iWant.
