Just as Erica (Kaila Estrada) speculates about Edong’s (Jake Cuenca) survival—despite reports claiming he had died and the halt of his search—Edong is seen lurking nearby, where he comes across two men attempting to sexually assault a woman.
The men mock Edong’s limp but are soon badly beaten. Hastily, the woman flees, frightened by his unsettling conviction that he was destined to protect her.
When Edong calls this incident a testament to his second life, a flashback shows Dolores (Malou de Guzman) finding him unconscious by the river and saving him.
He soon wakes to see Dolores tirelessly caring for him. Edong learns more about her, including her personal mission to save as many people as she can, since helping others keeps her from ending her own life.
Dolores has long been grieving the death of her son at the hands of her husband. Hearing this, Edong is reminded of how similar her pain is to his own past.
Noticing Edong’s unrest and sensing he is hiding something deeper, Dolores asks who hurt him and assures him he can stay and recover for as long as he needs before going wherever he must. Comforted after years of struggling alone, Edong grows emotional, holding Dolores’ hand and gently expressing how the river’s flow brought him to her.
Moments later, Edong happily prepares their lunch, surprising Dolores, who had only wanted him to rest. As their conversation continues, Edong tells her how she reminds him of his late mother and reveals that when he needed his mother the most, someone with the same name saved him. Amazed by the coincidence, Dolores consoles him further, and they share a peaceful meal together.
Days later, Dolores goes to the marketplace and hears about a fugitive on the loose—matching Edong’s circumstances, where he was shot and found near the river.
Despite her fear, Dolores bravely confronts Edong and learns that he still has four people to kill. He adds that she should understand him, since she, too, has a mission of her own.
