Being one of the core members of the iconic '90s dance group Streetboys, it’s second nature for Vhong Navarro to set off wild reactions every time he moves, no matter how ‘simple’ the dance steps are. Even just his two counts of a hip sway is like a public service that gets cheers and squeals from the audience. You get what we mean, right?
But no reaction is more hilariously dramatic than that of Vice Ganda, who always looks visibly not impressed. This has practically become a signature ‘asaran’ between the two, so much so that Kapamilya Update has come up with a compilation of Vice’s funniest reactions to Vhong’s dance moves on "It’s Showtime."
First on the list is that moment when Vice was ‘shookt’ by Vhong’s exaggeratedly good dancing during their intro spiels in the ‘Laro Laro Pick’ segment. The choreography was meant to be simple so the madlang players could easily follow along. But you know Vhong, he just had to go extra with it, prompting Vice to react, “Masyado mong ginagandahan 'yung kendeng mo!” Vhong added some locking and popping into his steps, which Vice 'couldn't handle' anymore!
If Vhong was serving hip-hop royalty in the first instance, this time his vibe during the ‘Step In The Name of Love’ intro spiels was more on the seductive side. Vice couldn’t handle the sudden sexiness of Vhong’s moves, joking, "Papunta na sa mang-aakit! Parang may intensyong makasira ng pamilya." She even compared his style to her own very sweet-girl approach, saying that part was supposed to be wholesome, "Pambata lang 'yung sa akin, eh!" And when she was dared to copy what Vhong did, Meme was so hilariously disgusted!
Vhong channelled P-pop energy in another 'Step In the Name of Love' episode, going all out with his dance moves and complete with a trendy outfit to match. That’s why Vice reacted, "'Yung porma niya, akala mo siya 'yung nag-discover ng BGYO"
Vhong’s moves were like a magnet, so much so girls in the studio couldn’t stop squealing, which once again annoyed Vice. She told him, “Ito kasi, napakalandi!” and then joked that Vhong’s 'landi' even overpowered the Gen Z-style ‘galawan’ of Darren Espanto, “Daig mo pa 'yung bata! 'Yung bata simple lang! Ikaw may facial expression pa talaga, eh!”
Vhong definitely isn’t one to back down when it comes to dancing—even when Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis, and Kim Chiu seemed to ‘gang up’ on him after getting thrown off by his levelled-up moves. “Iniba mo 'yung step. Gusto mong umangat ka!” Meme Vice protested!
Whether it's hip-hop, sexy, or P-pop, Vhong will dance like the stage is his, and Vice will always have something iconic to say about it. And as for us, solid Showtimers, we absolutely enjoy every bit of their dance 'kulitan'!
