Perhaps, many were surprised when it was confirmed that Aljur Abrenica was going to be a part of the ever-evolving ensemble cast of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” playing the role of Police Lieutenant Hector Victorino.

While not an interaction of them seems to go by without him disparaging and embarrassing Rigor (John Estrada), it’s still unclear if Hector will be an enemy or an ally to our main hero, Tanggol (Coco Martin). As we look forward to finding out what Hector’s role is going to be in the life of Tanggol, let us revisit first the remarkable teleserye journey of Aljur as a Kapamilya actor.

For those who aren’t aware yet, he’s among the local actors whose showbiz career started by joining—and eventually winning—a TV network’s reality talent search in 2007. He went on to work and even become one of the big stars of that network for a decade before he made the shocking move of transferring to ABS-CBN in 2017.

His first-ever teleserye appearance as a certified Kapamilya was in “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” wherein he immediately captivated viewers just on the entrance of his character, Miguel Enriquez—the owner of an illegal mining company that was attacked by the notorious rebel group Pulang Araw, in which Coco’s character, Cardo Dalisay, was a part of. He indeed had a spectacular ingress, as he was seen topless while riding a horse going to the location of his mining site. His physical features might be pleasing, but not his attitude, as he tended to be ruthless and abusive towards his workers, as well as clashing against those who would dare stop his illegal business.

In 2018, he was among the main cast of the afternoon action-drama series “Asintado,” alongside Julia Montes, Shaina Magdayao, and Paulo Avelino. He indeed impressed us not only with his dramatic chops but also his skills in doing action via his character Alexander “Xander” Guerrero.

The following year, Aljur finally scored his first-ever lead role in a teleserye through the afternoon soap opera “Sandugo,” which he co-starred in with Ejay Falcon, Jessy Mendiola, and Elisse Joson. His portrayal of Aristotle “Aris” Reyes, a.k.a. Leo Balthazar, can be considered notable, as he got to showcase not just his flair in drama but in action as well.

Five years since his last Kapamilya teleserye ended, he had a cameo appearance in the 2025 action-drama series “Incognito,” which served as his comeback to ABS-CBN. His surprising cameo appearance as one of the bodyguards of a foreign diplomat’s child, Takako Rai (Belle Mariano), in the pilot episode might be really brief since it only lasted for a few minutes, yet it was so satisfying and impressive.

Several months later, Aljur went on to astonish everyone anew when he was introduced as one of the latest additions to the ever-growing family of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.” He was tapped to take on the role of P/Lt. Hector Victorino, the newly hailed officer-in-charge of the Quiapo Police Station, who has been antagonizing Rigor ever since his first day in his new position. This serves as his reunion with Coco eight years after working together for the first time in “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.”

Catch Aljur Abrenica as Hector in “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” weeknights at 8PM, on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live (KOL), A2Z, TV5 and iWant.
