After the nail-biting, action-packed skirmish between the groups of Tanggol (Coco Martin) and Ramon (Christopher de Leon) in the past week’s episodes of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” things got totally dramatic as Ramon finally found out that it was none other than Tanggol and his friends, collectively known as “Wating,” who were the ones that foiled their two business transactions.
Fueled by wrath, disappointment, and gloom for being betrayed by his one and only son and the sole heir to their long-standing empire, Ramon punished and threatened to kill Tanggol and his friends. Just when being castigated by his father and his grandfather was not painful enough, Tanggol was also berated by his friends for putting their lives on the line, which caused the unforeseen deaths of their comrades, Raul (Raymond Ronquillo) and Madonna (Kim Domingo), because of his principles and personal advocacies.
While his friends who have been with him ever since they were young and still living in Barangay San Dimas, especially his best friend, Enteng (Jojit Lorenzo), tried to empathize with him and defend him, their relatively new allies, Divina (Rosanna Roces) and Emil (Jay Gonzaga), had aired their disappointment and resentment against Tanggol and the decisions that he had made.
And in this behind-the-scenes video published by CCM Productions across its social media platforms on September 11, Rosanna and Jay talked about their characters’ hard-hitting confrontation scenes with Tanggol.
“Ang mahirap kasi kay Tanggol kung ano ang magustuhan niyang gawin at kung ano sa palagay niya ang tama, ‘yon ang gagawin niya kahit magca-cause ‘yon ng hindi maganda, may buhay na malalagay sa panganib. Dahil sa mga sitwasyong ipinipilit niya na ‘yon ang tama, doon ako nagalit nang husto sa kanya,” Rosanna conveyed.
She added that what Divina only wanted was for Tanggol’s situation to improve, which she believes can only happen if he accepts the responsibility being passed on to him by Ramon.
Furthermore, she disclosed that the deaths of Raul and Madonna had indeed inflicted a huge impact on her since that’s where she has been taking all her hugots, or emotions, from. As we had seen in a recent episode, Divina persecuted Tanggol by asking him who needed to die next among them before he could finally come to his senses and change his perspective.
Jay, on the other hand, imparted that he couldn’t believe that Emil and Divina were going to have a misunderstanding with Tanggol and his friends. He disclosed that even the actors themselves were not aware of what would happen next to their respective characters and the story in general, which he finds awesome.
“Trinu-trust lang namin ang process kung saan pupunta o saan kami patungo sa kuwento. So, bilang gumaganap sa character ni Emil, challenging siya na nagkaroon ng twist ‘yong character,” he related.
Then he continued, “May tampuhan, mayroong mga salita na nabitawan na hindi namin alam kung paano namin babawiin, pero nacha-challenge kami and excited din kami sa mga mangyayari pa sa susunod ng mga episodes.”
He went on to remark that, for him, it’s definitely normal for friends to have downfalls and misunderstandings because those would test the longevity and sturdiness of the friendship. However, he’s hopeful that their group will still make amends—although he’s not even sure if there’s a chance for them to fix their rift or if their falling-out will continue. Thus, viewers must watch out if Divina and Emil are going to dissociate themselves from the group of Tanggol or will remain loyal to them.
“Huwag n’yo pong palampasin dahil ang mga eksena ay gumaganda lalo, kaya manood lang po kayo, kumapit lang po kayo, [at] maraming salamat po sa suporta,” Jay uttered by the end of the video.
