Patrick (Joshua Garcia) decides not to report to the facility that day, giving him time to take Matmat (Carlo Aquino) to his job at Jason (Francis Magundayao)'s inasal restaurant. While waiting for a ride at the jeepney stop, Patrick lights up upon seeing his brother reading Mia (Anne Curtis)'s book, "Si Happy, ang Masayahing Aso," saying it’s been a long time since he last saw him with a book because Matmat has been busy juggling his shifts at the restaurant and painting at OK Hospital.
This makes Patrick suggest that he quit at Jason's restaurant, but Matmat assures him that he’s fine working both jobs and even teases that Patrick is the one who seems more exhausted, pointing out how loud his snoring gets at night. Patrick’s wide grin is replaced by a mix of fondness and sadness when his 'manong' checks on him and asks if he’s really okay. Matmat then likens him to Happy, the dog who cries at night out of loneliness.
"Okay 'yung katawan niya, pero 'yung puso hindi," he tells him, adding that maybe Patrick is like Happy since crying at night is a sign of a lonely heart. He continues that Happy needs a friend to run and play with. But instead of dwelling on himself, Patrick remembers Mia (Anne Curtis), who woke up crying from a nightmare the night before.
