The most anticipated annual sports event in showbiz, the Star Magic All-Star Games, happened on Sunday, July 20. Kapamilya stars and guest pro players served aces, drained threes, and spiked their way to glory at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
But while the on-court action had us thrilled, we were just as excited for the off-court moments. With the tandems featured in this highlight video serving MVP-level kilig, the scoreboard wasn’t the only thing lighting up that day.
Star Magic Shooting Stars captain Donny Pangilinan and his cheerleader Belle Mariano gave off campus rom-com feels! Donny had a huge responsibility on his shoulders as he took the captain's seat for the Star Magic Shooting Stars in their basketball rematch against Cong TV’s Anibilabol Basketbol Team, whom they first faced off with back in 2023. The pressure was definitely on, but Belle’s courtside cheers and unwavering support brought him a much-needed confidence boost.
DonBelle hasn’t confirmed anything about being in a relationship, but our 'delulu' hearts felt like watching Belle cheer for Donny was basically watching her on girlfriend duty. During those crucial final seconds when it looked like Team Anbilabol might actually catch up, Belle was spotted standing courtside and feeling the nerves like the rest of us.
But she was also one of the proudest in the crowd when the final buzzer sounded and Donny’s Star Magic Shooting Stars team secured the championship. Donny was named part of the Mythical 5, and you just know Belle was beaming with pride like it was her win too.
We’ve gotten used to seeing Loisa Andalio as one of the proudest girlfriends on the sidelines in past All-Star Games, cheering for Ronnie Alonte during the basketball events. But this year, LoiNie's roles flipped a bit. Ronnie didn’t suit up for the court, but he was there to show love for Loisa, who played in the Women’s Volleyball event.
Francine Diaz was also spotted showing her full support for her "Sins of the Father" on-screen partner Seth Fedelin, who flexed his athletic side for the Shooting Stars. FranSeth won our hearts again!
Meanwhile, "PBB Gen 11" Big Winner Fyang Smith went from spiker to sideline supporter real quick. After playing in the Women’s Volleyball event, she got into cheer mode for her loveteam partner JM Ibarra, who took part in the Basketball event. Fyang was even seen wearing a jersey with “Ibarra” on it. JMFyng ended the day as Rookie of the Year awardees in their respective sports.
Love wins for DongPat even on the hardcourt. Real-life couple Dingdong Bahan and Patrick Ramirez found themselves on opposite sides during the Men’s Volleyball event, with Dingdong playing for Team Aces and Patrick for Team Spikers. But the mutual support between them was unmistakable even as they competed. When Patrick delivered the game-winning spike that secured the Spikers’ victory, Dingdong was the first to meet him at the center of the court, pulling him into a hug that had fans swooning. And Dingdong was the loudest and proudest fan when Patrick was hailed Men’s Volleyball MVP.
Having someone fuel your fire from the sidelines can totally feel like an MVP-level boost. Maybe that’s what helped Argel Saycon bring his A-game on the court and eventually bag the Basketball MVP title, with his "number 1 hype girl" Jas Dudley-Scales throwing all the love his way right after playing in the Women’s Volleyball event. ArJas had us catching feelings from the sidelines too.
