On the Christmas Eve episode (December 24) of “Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition 2.0,” the second batch of housemates finally unwrapped their extra special gifts from their loved ones.
And because Christmas is basically gift-giving season and a time to feel our family's love, Kuya combined both for the housemates’ 9th weekly task, aptly named “Paskong Hatid Regalo," where each duo must work together in pedaling a stationary bike to reach a set distance.
The housemate whose name shows up on the plasma screen will have the opportunity to open their gift for that day. The distance they need to reach is based on the actual distance from Bahay Ni Kuya to the place where their loved one, who prepared the gift, is located.
Since task leaders Caprice Cayetano and Joaquin Arce were the first to complete the challenge, and Caprice already had her emotional reunion with her dad, this time, it was Joaquin’s turn to reunite with his mom, Sunshine.
Just like Caprice’s final challenge, Joaquin had to guess which of the five mystery hands belonged to his loved one—the one delivering his Christmas present. Since he was pretty sure it was his mom bringing the gift, all he had to do was figure out which hand was hers.
Joaquin broke down as soon as he felt the familiar touch of his mother’s hand. The moment turned even more emotional when Big Brother allowed them to finally see each other, leading to a heartfelt reunion full of hugs and tears. Joaquin didn't expect this would happen, knowing how private his mom has always been.
Mommy Sunshine made sure Joaquin knew just how proud she is of him. “You make me shine,” she told her son, meaning the world credits her for raising him well as he continues to prove his kindness. In turn, Joaquin said, "I wouldn't be the man that I am if it weren't for you."
We also learned in this episode that Mommy Sunshine didn’t want to let Joaquin join "PBB" at first, but now she feels like everything happened the way it was meant to because Joaquin’s journey inside the house has actually brought their family closer, as they united in supporting him from the outside world.
