From being one of Kuya’s housemates who brought sunshine to the “Pinoy Big Brother Gen 11” edition, Jas Dudley-Scales now stars in iWant's newest microdrama “When Brothers Fall,” another milestone to her showbiz career.
On Kapamilya Chat last December 15, Jas talked about this new chapter, sharing her excitement over exploring fresh opportunities in acting and connecting more deeply with fans. She then took on the “Sister’s Call” challenge where she was given different situations and she had to respond with her own take or personal insights.
When asked about her working habits, Jas proudly shared that she’s very much a workaholic. “It’s innate already in me na workaholic ako. I love work.” She even recalled a fun instance where the team struggled to keep everything aligned with her schedule, but she always strives to make it work and remains very hands-on with everything she does.
With her experience working behind the scenes, she understands the challenges that production teams face. “So alam ko ‘yung struggles ng mga [nasa] behind the scenes… kung pagod ako, paano na sila.” Jas also expressed her gratitude to the staff she works with, acknowledging their hard work and dedication.
She added that on her rest days, she watches Star Cinema films to observe how actors approach certain scenes, as it helps her improve as an actress and apply those insights to her craft. “Iba talaga kapag you're just an audience, ‘pag naging prod ka, iba rin kapag nandiyan ka na mismo.” She capped it off by saying that you have to be flexible at work in order to keep learning and growing.
Moving on to the next prompt---how does Jas manage her budget? The Kapamilya actress shared that she’s very strict, especially since she’s the one handling their family’s finances. Jas also tries to discipline her brother when it comes to money, even jokingly calling herself the “bad cop.” She teaches him not to depend on her too much as an older sibling and even considers it an achievement when he’s a little scared of her. Still, she makes sure to balance it out by showing appreciation through support and thoughtful gifts.
On dealing with self-doubt, Jas shared a few of her personal mantras. “I always say na God didn’t put this dream in my heart and mind for nothing.” She knows she is a woman full of dreams---some she has already achieved, and many more she hopes to reach even beyond the industry. “If hindi palarin, I’ll still work my way.” She explained that while she prays, she also believes in doing the work and staying independent. At the same time, she remains grateful for her mother and friends who continue to support her every step of the way.
She also shared how she maintains this kind of dynamic with the other half of ArJas, her close friend and “PBB” alumnus Argel Saycon. “Na-feel ni Argel ‘yung Negros love, and he’s very grateful kasi na-extend ‘yung Negros Oriental love sa kanya.” Jas added that her family loves Argel so much as a person, and that this bond is rooted in their shared Bisaya warmth.
When it comes to bashing and negativity, Jas candidly shared that she doesn’t let any of it affect her because she’s confident in who she is. She recalled her dad’s mindset, telling her that there’s beauty in “not being beautiful” sometimes. That perspective shifted the way she sees herself, and she hopes that the love she shows others resonates not just with her fans but with everyone around her.
Jas also reflected on how much she has grown throughout her journey. She admitted that she can be too hard on herself when she makes mistakes, but she’s now learning to choose her battles. “It’s protecting my energy, protecting the peace kasi ang dami nang nangyayari [sa mundo],” she shared.
