Samuel begins to fall unconscious as Jacob (JC de Vera) attacks him mercilessly, hurling him across the room and striking him hard. But Johnny blocks her path. “This is my chance to save my own son, at gagawin ko ang lahat!” Leah declares.
Furious that their lives are at stake, Johnny cuffs Leah. “Hindi lang ‘to para sa’yo, pero para kay King (Clave Sun). ‘Yung pagpigil ko sa’yo ang magpoprotekta sa inyong dalawa.” But Leah is determined to save her family.
Samuel refuses to give up. He remembers his family waiting for him and begins to fight back. “Hindi ka magtatagumpay, Jacob!” They engage once more in a fistfight. “Ni minsan, hindi ko ginustong manakit ng tao. Hindi ako ‘yung sumira sa buhay mo. You always have a choice. Marami kang pagkakataon para talikuran ang buhay na ‘yan, para piliin mo sina Leah at Chloe (Cailey Magno)---pero hindi mo ginawa! Kaya walang ibang dapat sisihin kundi ang sarili mo!”
Samuel fights Jacob, realizing he only has ten minutes left to save his family. His loved ones cry endlessly, screaming his name. Samuel unlocks them and tells them to escape. King, however, is locked up differently, forcing him to remain inside with Samuel
Samuel saves King. Lolita and Arissa step out of the building, while Leah panics upon seeing only the two of them. As Samuel escapes with King, Jacob appears and attacks him from behind. Leah manages to remove her handcuffs and rushes back in to save her son.
Before Jacob can deliver his final blow, Leah arrives and stops him. “Itigil mo na ‘to!” she cries. Just as they thought her presence might convince Jacob, he opens his jacket to reveal a time bomb strapped to his body.
With three minutes left before the bomb explodes, the tension rises. Samuel carries King down to safety, but Leah stays with Jacob. Unable to let things worsen, Samuel returns with King to help remove the bomb. Leah begs him to leave. “Samuel, umalis ka na! Kailangan ka ni King. Kailangan ka ng anak natin!” she cries, while King calls out his name. Leah heartbreakingly knows it is the end---neither she nor Jacob can be saved. Samuel is torn. He wants to save them but must protect his son.
With two minutes left, Samuel leaves. Enraged, Jacob lashes out at Leah, and she holds him close, “Jacob, ‘di ba ito naman talaga ‘yung gusto mo? ‘Yung hindi na tayo maghihiwalay?” she sobs. In their final moments, they are together, just as Jacob wanted.
“‘Til death do us part.” Leah’s final words echo as she looks at Jacob.
King escapes the building. Samuel still tries to go back, but Leah and Jacob embrace in their last moment as the bomb explodes---ending Samuel’s fight against Bakunawa.
Leah's ultimate sacrifice for her family
Outside, Agnes (Jessy Mendiola) hugs King as everyone cries, calling for Samuel while the building burns to ashes.
Samuel comes out of the building, weak, hugging his mother while sobbing uncontrollably. He looks at Johnny. “Si Leah? Nasaan si Leah?” Johnny asks softly, holding back his emotions. “Sorry.” is all Samuel can say. That single word breaks Johnny. “Wala na si Leah… ‘yung kapatid mo, Johnny.” Johnny collapses in despair with Samuel hugging him.
At Leah’s funeral, everyone is emotional as they bid their final goodbye.
“Sa huling sandali, pinili mo pa ring maging mabuting ina sa mga anak mo. Hindi kita makakalimutan, Leah,” Lolita says with deep sincerity.
Samuel, his voice breaking, adds, “Paalam, Leah. Pangako, aalagaan ko ang mga anak mo. Hindi nila makakalimutan ang pagmamahal mo sa kanila.”
Johnny confronts Diego's dark legacy
From his coma, Diego wakes up and immediately sees Samuel. “Trinidad, get out of here!” he shouts. What he does not know is that Samuel is about to deliver devastating news. “Nandito ako para sabihin sa inyo na wala na si Leah.” Diego is in disbelief. “Namatay siya sa isang pagsabog na ginawa ni Jacob. Sinakripisyo niya ang buhay niya para sa kaligtasan ni King.” Samuel adds.
Diego breaks down in tears, but still blames Samuel, accusing him of ruining their family. Ever since Diego engaged in criminal activities, he had already broken his daughter’s trust. He deceived many people and left countless victims. “Walang ibang dapat sisihin sa pagkamatay ng sarili mong anak kundi ikaw!” Samuel declares before leaving.
On his way out, Samuel bumps into Johnny. “Johnny, anak! Help me!” Diego cries upon seeing his son.
Johnny, heartbroken, replies, “Grabe, tinawag mo rin akong anak. Akala ko hindi mo na ako kikilalanin.” As Diego reaches for Johnny’s hands, Johnny pulls out his handcuffs and arrests him. “Hindi na uubra sa akin ‘yan.”
With conviction, Johnny declares, “Retired Police General Diego Ramirez, ikaw ay naaaresto sa salang syndicated estafa, at sa patong-patong na kaso na kinasasangkutan ng Bakunawa, ang sindikatong pinamunuan mo.”
Johnny’s voice trembles as he speaks to his own father, “Sana gumaling ang cancer mo. Sana mabuhay ka pa nang matagal, para pagbayaran mo lahat ng kasalanan mo sa mga tao.” Diego pleads desperately, but Johnny turns away, leaving him crying.
Life after Bakunawa: Families finding closure
Samuel and his family finally return home, and everything is back to normal. Samuel secures a new job at a financial group, while Arissa balances her college requirements with her work at the coffee shop. King and Chloe resume their studies, moving forward with peace.
The people involved in Bakunawa are now behind bars. While existing laws cover scamming, Paeng (Nico Antonio) emphasizes the need for legislation focused solely on scams. “Nakita ng sarili kong mga mata kung paano nalulusutan ng scammers ang mga batas natin. Low conviction rate, mahirap na evidence gathering, at hindi sakop na mga bagong taktika ng scammers tulad ng deepfake, AI phishing, at marami pang iba.” He explains that comprehensive laws must be implemented. “Sumasabay ang mga scammers sa technological advancement, kaya we need to be two steps ahead of them para matigil na ang kasamaan nila na hindi lamang sumisira kundi kumikitil pa sa mga buhay ng ating mga kababayan.”
With this, the victims of the Yayaman Tayo scam recover their money through the help of Mael (Jerald Napoles) and his team. Families, including Naomi (Barbie Imperial) and her loved ones, are able to use the funds for more important needs. Paulo (William Lorenzo) visits the tomb of his son Gavin (Ashton Salvador), who lost his life because of Bakunawa.
Luke (Jeremiah Lisbo) closes his coffee shop but provides compensation to his employees. Enzo visits his late mother, Amelia (Mickey Ferriols), sharing stories about the person who now makes him happy. Johnny visits Leah’s grave, assuring her that her children are safe. He has now become SPO1 Johnny Policarpio. Meanwhile, Arissa calls her mother Ellen (Aubrey Miles) to update her about returning to school and introduces her boyfriend Enzo.
Johnny and Agnes legally separate but choose to remain friends. “Sana maging proud sa’kin yung anak natin sa langit. Kasi tanggap ko na kailangan mong lumaya,” Johnny says tearfully. Agnes comforts him, “Sigurado ako na proud na proud siya sa’yo.” She assures him he is a good man.
