The November 20 episode of “Sins of the Father” proves that peace is only an illusion. Just when Samuel (Gerald Anderson) and his family believe the war has ended, Jacob (JC de  Vera) rises from the ashes and sets his game plan to ruin and seek revenge on Samuel.

What seemed like the final blow was only the calm before the storm. Jacob’s dangerous return puts Samuel's family's life in danger.

The calm before the storm

Leah (Shaina Magdayao) arrives at the crime scene with Johnny (RK Bagatsing) by her side. “Baka mga ilang araw pa o linggo ang abutin bago makakuha ang DNA results,” he assured his sister. Leah is saddened by what happened, but she also feels relieved that it has finally ended.

Meanwhile, Roldan (Joko Diaz) breaks down in tears when Enzo (Seth Fedelin) informs him that his brother has died.  “Dapat sinamahan ko siya. Dapat hindi ko siya pinabayaang maiwan doon,” he cries in despair. “Ako ang nagpasok sa kanya sa mundong ito eh,” Roldan blames himself for what happened to Jacob. Enzo reiterates that it was still Jacob’s choice that led to how everything fell into place. “’Wag mo isisi lahat sa’yo,” he tells Roldan.

Roldan makes it clear that Enzo should not pay for his crimes, as his son remains innocent. Enzo, in turn, is grateful that his father has finally realized the truth.

The evidence that shook Bakunawa

The report states that a portable hard drive was turned over to the authorities, containing the bank accounts of those involved in the Bakunawa group. Enzo fulfilled Roldan’s request.

Pastor Ferdie (Joel Saracho) was arrested for his involvement in charity scams across the country. Matthias (Eric Fructuoso) was also captured for his role in phishing scams.  Congressman Montelibano (Simon Ibarra) was implicated in corruption, though he insists he is being harassed and that someone is trying to ruin his image. His son, Luke (Jeremiah Lisbo), suffers the consequences of his father’s actions as people rally outside his coffee shop. Forced to hide inside, his workers worried.

Even influential figures such as police generals and government employees who served as accomplices were arrested. Scam hubs were raided inside the Oriental Ridge building, which was exposed as a fraudulent company used by Bakunawa for its operations.

The people continue to rally. “Lagi nating tatandaan, ang mamamayang marunong mag-ingay, hinding-hindi kailanman mabibiktima ng mga mandarambong.”

Samuel is finally freed after the revelations and further investigations confirm that he was framed. It was revealed that he had been working with Colonel Villanueva (Soliman Cruz) to solve the case. Cleared of all charges, Samuel is now hired as a consultant for NLEA to help in their operations against online scams.

Samuel and his family watch the news. “Hay, sa wakas natapos din ang gulong ito. Makakauwi na tayo sa bahay natin,” Lolita (Lotlot de Leon) says. However, Samuel remains uneasy. “Nay, hindi ko alam pero pakiramdam ko pa rin na may nakaabang na panganib para sa atin.”

Danger lurks beyond Jacob's “wake”

At Jacob’s wake, Chloe (Cailey Magno) breaks down in tears and asks Leah if the allegations against her father were true and if that was the reason he died. Leah gently explains that Jacob had ‘not-so-good’ things, “Naligaw siya ng landas. But I want you to remember that despite everything, your daddy loved you.”

Samuel, Johnny, Lolita, Agnes (Jessy Mendiola), King (Clave Sun), Enzo, and Arissa (Francine Diaz) are also present. Arissa tries to comfort Enzo, saying, “I’m sorry about your Tito Jacob.”  Enzo reflects on how much Jacob loved Leah and Chloe, “Pero ‘di ko naisip na marami na pala siyang sinasaktan na mga tao.” He adds that Jacob should have surrendered, just as Roldan did. Arissa reassures Enzo that what matters most is that Chloe has him and Leah, the ones who will truly understand her.

As time passes by, Lolita bids goodbye to Leah, “Maraming salamat ho, Nanay Lolita. Alam ko kung gaano kahirap sa inyo na magpunta dito, pagkatapos ng lahat ng ginawa ni Jacob sa pamilya niyo.” Lolita reiterates that they did not come to the wake for Jacob, but for Leah and Chloe, to make them feel they are not alone.

Finally, King embraces Chloe and Leah as they bid them goodbye.

Jacob's deadly game

As they leave, Samuel grows skeptical and nervous, thinking he saw Jacob. Lolita reassures him that maybe he was just hallucinating. Samuel lets them go home first, unaware that danger is waiting just around the corner.

On the drive home, Enzo suddenly stops, feeling dizzy. Arissa experiences the same, and soon both lose consciousness. Before blacking out, Enzo glances at the backseat and sees King and Lolita unconscious as well. Moments later, he collapses too.

Jacob, with his face half-burned, appears. He leaves Enzo on the side of the road and drives off with Samuel’s family, abducting them. “Hayop ka, Samuel. Tingnan ko kung hindi ka mabaliw sa gagawin ko sa pamilya mo,” he whispers.

Jacob holds Samuel’s family captive in an empty building. He is furious. Samuel confides to Leah that he saw Jacob earlier, “Hindi ako sure, pero iba ang pakiramdam ko.” Johnny argues it’s impossible, reminding him that he saw Jacob’s car explode with his own eyes. Agnes also tries to convince him that they are safe.

But Samuel’s instincts prove right. Enzo rushes back to Jacob’s wake, panting and still affected by whatever substance caused them to lose consciousness. “Kuya Samuel, sina Arissa nawawala. Nagda-drive ako, nahilo ako. Paggising ko wala na sina Arissa.”

Samuel then receives a chilling call from Jacob, “Trinidad!” When Samuel demands to know where his family is, Jacob replies, “Pwes, hanapin mo ko! Harapin mo ’ko! Talunin mo ko, Trinidad!”

Furious, Samuel learns he has only 40 minutes to find them. “Sasabog sila kasama ang mga plano ng Bakunawa na sinira mo!” Jacob threatens.  Leah reminds him that he still has a chance to change and should think of their daughter instead.

Determined, Samuel vows to find Jacob. But Jacob warns him not to seek help from anyone, “Wag mo ’kong susubukan!”

Samuel races against time

Samuel rushes, certain that Jacob and his family are at Crown Madeira. Leah tries to catch up with him, but Johnny stops her, reminding her of Jacob’s instructions to Samuel. Agnes insists that Leah is right and that they should be with Samuel. Together with Enzo, they all follow him.

Samuel’s family pleads with Jacob to stop. “Itigil mo na ’to!” Lolita cries. But Jacob only watches them, satisfied with their suffering.  Arissa reminds Jacob that Samuel had saved them before during his earlier attempts at abduction, “Tatalunin ka niya! Tatalunin ka ni Kuya Samuel because you’re a loser!” Enraged, Jacob silences them, covering their mouths to stop their cries. He watches them suffer, eager to end their lives.

Samuel arrives at the building, searching desperately for his family while Jacob monitors him through security cameras. Agnes and the others arrive as well. Leah tries to rush in, but they stop her, knowing it could cost their lives if Jacob sees her.

Samuel searches every corner of the building until he finally finds his family tied up. He frees them, but the bomb is set to explode in just a few minutes.  Jacob suddenly appears and headlocks Samuel. A brutal fistfight ensues as his family watches in horror, seeing Samuel beaten by Jacob.

Jacob is determined to finish Samuel, but Samuel refuses to back down. Jacob throws him around, punching and kicking him relentlessly.  “Lahat ng plano ko sinira mo, pati buhay ko!” Jacob screams.

Flashbacks overwhelm him, how Samuel ruined his life, “Dahil sa’yo nawala ang Kuya Roldan ko! Pati ang mag-ina ko!” he cries. “Hindi ako papayag na maging masaya ka, hindi ako papayag!” Jacob roars, continuing his assault.

Samuel eventually loses consciousness as Jacob keeps striking him.

Jacob’s vengeance knows no limits, and the battle becomes a fight for survival. With the bomb ticking and Samuel down, is this truly the end for his family?
