Because of how a ravishing young man, an impressive crooner and dancer, and a versatile actor he is, Kyle Echarri is able to make his way not just into our hearts but into the local entertainment as well over the past decade.
He may have started out as a singer, who initially delighted us with his rendition of One Direction’s “Night Changes” that made OPM icons-slash-coaches Bamboo and Sarah Geronimo immediately turn their seats during the blind auditions of “The Voice Kids Philippines Season 2” in 2015, the young charmer from Cebu eventually dabbled into acting as well, while still pursuing his music career.
Over the past decade, we’ve witnessed his growth not just as an individual but also as an artist, impressing us with his every performance as a singer, dancer, and actor. And in recent years, Kyle is able to prove that he’s definitely more than just a mere heartthrob, for he also has what it takes to become the next big thing in Philippine showbiz that we should watch out for, especially when it comes to acting.
As we look forward to another sure-fire portrayal of Kyle via the upcoming ABS-CBN Studios action-drama primetime series, “Roja,” let us first revisit his acting stints in Kapamilya teleseryes through the years in this Kapamilya Spotlight feature!
Despite falling short in his bid to become the grand champion of “The Voice Kids PH” after getting eliminated in the live shows, he still managed to break into the entertainment industry as a child actor. He made his acting debut via the hit 2015 romance-comedy series “On The Wings of Love,” in which he played the role of Brent Wyatt, the half-brother of Nadine Lustre’s character Leah Olivar.
It was succeeded by his appearances in the three episodes of the long-running drama anthology “Maalaala Mo Kaya” from 2016 to 2018, namely, “Boxing Ring,” “Cellphone,” and “Hapag-kainan.”
He then scored his breakout role in 2019 via the highly successful afternoon soap opera “Kadenang Ginto,” in which he took on the role of Kristoff “Tope” Tejada, the love interest of Cassie Mondragon, one of the lead characters played by his then-loveteam partner Francine Diaz. It was through this series when the elite group named “The Gold Squad” was formed, which was comprised of him, Francine, and their co-stars Seth Fedelin and Andrea Brillantes.
Since his team-up with Francine, fondly called “KyCine” by their shippers back then, was so popular, they were chosen to take part in the Kim Chiu-starrer iWant original series, “Bawal Lumabas: The Series” in 2020, wherein he endeared viewers as Kevin Ramos, the persistent admirer of Francine’s bratty character Jade.
Kyle’s onscreen partnership with Francine continued in the 2021 inspirational drama series “Huwag Kang Mangamba,” wherein he played the role of Rafa Advincula, a scion of the most powerful political family in the fictional town of Hermoso, who helped sisters Joy and Mira, portrayed by Francine and Andrea, in accomplishing their missions and in getting out of trouble.
He then went on to headline the pilot episode of the streaming anthology series “Click, Like, Share” titled “Reroute,” wherein he played Brennan, a teenager whose virtual assistant began to control him, which eventually led to a dangerous situation. It was also that same year when he joined “Pinoy Big Brother Kumunity Season 10” as one of the celebrity housemates.
Apparently, 2022 was his busiest year for he didn’t only star in just one but three acting projects. The first one was the iWant original miniseries “Beach Bros,” in which he fascinated viewers as his character Dave Alon, one of the main protagonists and the leader of the titular group called “Baler Boys,” who struggles to pursue his dream of studying in Manila.
He then got cast in another iWant original series titled “Lyric and Beat,” through which he was able to showcase not just his acting prowess but also his singing and dancing skills. Kyle took on the role of Grae, the team captain of one of the choral groups that competed against the choir in which the characters of lead stars Seth and Andrea were both members of.
Later that year, he was tapped to play the young Apollo Adelantar (Richard Gutierrez) in the action-drama series “The Iron Heart,” which served as his initial foray in the action genre. He indeed astounded viewers with his intense dramatic chops and remarkable skills in doing stunts and other action scenes, paving the way for him to score more mature roles in his succeeding acting projects.
In 2023, he got to work alongside Andrea Brillantes again when they were chosen to be among the main stars of the youth-oriented crime thriller “Senior High.” He impressed us with his portrayal of Obet Santana, the love interest of Andrea’s character Sky Cruz, who helped—and eventually sacrificed his life—in pursuit of finding out the truth behind the mysterious tragic death of her twin sister, Luna.
Kyle didn’t have to wait long for his next project as he immediately started working on the action-drama primetime series “Pamilya Sagrado.” He topbilled it alongside Piolo Pascual and Grae Fernandez, whose characters played as the estranged father and half-brother of his character, Moises “Moi” Alonzo.
Seven years after his last appearance in “MMK,” he made his comeback in 2025 via the “Makeup” episode, in which he was paired with “PBB Gen 11” 4th Big Placer and fast-rising artist Kai Montinola for the first time, giving birth to their loveteam that has already attracted many shippers. They portrayed the inspiring lovestory of real-life couple Hajie Alejandro and Lenie Aycardo, who have gone through a lot of struggles in their relationship and life before attaining massive success and popularity, particularly in social media, through their mind-blowing makeup transformations.
And beginning this November, Kyle is about to exhibit his flair in drama and action anew via the much-awaited teleserye “Roja,” which he headlines alongside fellow Kapamilya Gen Z heartthrob Donny Pangilinan. He will take on the role of Olsen Bonifacio, the security officer of La Playa Roja, who will be compelled to join forces with his estranged best friend, Liam Roja (Donny), in fighting the armed group that attacked the resort and in saving as much hostages as possible.
