In the October 20 episode of Kapamilya Chat, beyond their deep dive into their “What Lies Beneath characters,” Mutya Orquia (who plays Louisa Mae Soria) and Krystal Mejes (who plays the young Erica Melendez) put their game faces on for the “What Lies Beneath The Box” challenge.
The young actresses playfully switch roles from friends to rivals in order to determine who will win the game by matching the colors of the cups on the upper and lower parts of the box.
Mutya joked before the game about Krystal’s apparent memorization of the cup placements: “Bakit ka tumitingin?” she teased her co-star. Jeremiah, the host, then played along with Mutya, “Hindi kayo mag-aaway, friends kayo.”
With Krystal taking the first turn in the game, Mutya eagerly shuffled the colored cups. “So, we have to use our instincts. Hindi pa naman ako magaling sa ganiyan,” Krystal expressed.
For each round, a 10-second time limit was given. Krystal managed to match a pair of yellow cups and went on to successfully match all of them on her second try. “Wala po akong nakikita,” she said, leaving Mutya speechless and amazed.
In the second round, Mutya mentally prepared while Krystal rearranged the cups. “Nagulat [talaga] ako doon, ha,” Mutya said, referring to Krystal’s successful match. “I got my competitiveness from you,” Krystal replied.
Like Krystal, Mutya missed on her first try but got all the colors right on her second attempt—though not without double-checking the placements.
With added difficulty, the rules for the last round were tweaked so that the onlookers could only say whether there were any matching colors and how many, without specifying which ones.
Krystal tried again. On her first attempt, she managed to match the blue and purple cups. Her second try was nearly successful, but on the last attempt, the arrangement became even more mismatched. “Ang layo!” Krystal chuckled after seeing the colored cups she lined up.
Mutya pointed out Krystal’s close proximity to victory, saying, “Alam mo, kanina meron nang nag-match eh. Dapat ’yung yellow and green ’yung pinagpalit [mo].”
“Ang hirap pala nito, ’no? You have to trust yourself,” Krystal expressed as Mutya tried the game again. On her final attempt, Mutya didn’t succeed, but not without a humorous display of frustration as she tried to stack all the colored cups together.
“Napressure naman ako, uy!” Mutya exclaimed.
