Given Vice Ganda's extraordinary talent, wit, humor, and eloquence—not to mention her compassion, generosity, and humility—there’s definitely no wonder why she is profoundly admired by many.
Furthermore, another thing that we love about her is how she has never forgotten the humble life she used to have before she entered showbiz and became famous, which she proudly shares through her television hosting stints in the past years, such as in the now-defunct late-night comedy talk show “Gandang Gabi Vice.”
Now that Christmas is just around the corner, let’s look back on the snippets from its few episodes where she and her celebrity guests reminisced and even relived some of their most unforgettable memories during the season, which we collated in this edition of GGV Toplist.
Since everyone of us surely has at least one ninong/ninang and now probably has inaanaks of our own, plenty of viewers could certainly relate when Unkabogable Star and one of her anak-anakans, “Gigil Kid” Carlo Mendoza, ranted about godparents who hide from their godchildren during Christmas. Carlo even namedropped his ninongs who usually hide from him, much to the amusement of Vice and the audiences.
She and her real-life close friends Karla Estrada, Wacky Kiray, and Lassy also talked about how they used to celebrate noche buena in the past before they became well-off in life. They fondly recounted how households in their neighborhood would either exchange food or share ingredients, which allowed their families to experience a simple yet decent feast. Vice also gave a shoutout to one of their neighbors, Aling Miding and her family, as she thanked them for their generosity.
Before they became the singing divas we all adore, not a lot of people knew that the beautiful voices of Kyla and Angeline Quinto were initially heard in the streets of Manila as they joined their friends and cousins in caroling around their neighborhood. However, not everyone seemed to appreciate them at the time, as they recalled often being ignored or shooed away instead of being given pamasko. The three of them also sang samples of their favorite Christmas songs— “The Christmas Song” for Kyla, “O Holy Night” for Vice and “Himig ng Pasko” for Angeline.
They might have begun their showbiz careers at early ages, but TNT Boys, comprised by Francis Concepcion, Mackie Empuerto, and Keifer Sanchez, still got to experience caroling. Thus, in one of their guest appearances on the show, the Unkabogable Star requested that they sing their respective renditions of the classic Christmas song “Jingle Bells”.
Speaking of caroling, Vice eventually got the opportunity to do it once more in 2018 when she and her celebrity guest Kim Chiu went on a "LOL Trip" for an episode. But instead of singing to houses, the duo sang "Jingle Bells" to various commuters and car owners along the road and solicited money from them. And since the true spirit of the season is giving, they gave all of their earnings—plus a little extra to make it exactly P10,000—to the Bantay Bata 163 Donation Campaign.
