International pop star Olivia Rodrigo has officially announced her much-awaited third studio album set to drop on June 12.

Titled you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, the Filipino-American singer and songwriter shared the news on social media, expressing her excitement as she marks a new chapter in her music career.

“my third album ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’ is out June 12th. I am so proud of this record and I can’t wait for you to hear it. available for preorder now! 🩷,” she wrote.

The announcement came with a striking photo of Olivia riding a swing, which quickly caught fans’ attention and added to the intrigue surrounding her upcoming album.

On her official website, the singer also gave a sample of what listeners can expect.

“No matter how hard I try to write love songs they always come out laced with a little melancholy,” she said in the newsletter.

In an interview with British Vogue, the singer shared that creating the album was a challenge for her, especially since she was in a happy relationship.

“It was a creative challenge to write from a joyful place,” she said. “When you’re experiencing that you’re connected to someone, or feeling really good, you’re not in your head thinking about bittersweet poems!”

Olivia also hinted that the album tracks are all "sad love songs," adding: “I realized all my favorite romantic love songs were beautiful because they had a tinge of fear or yearning in them.”

Speculation about Olivia’s third album had already been brewing weeks prior. In March, fans spotted a mural in Los Angeles featuring a new “OR3” logo, fueling rumors of an upcoming release.

Adding more excitement, the singer’s official website was updated with a bold, purple-themed design, while her Instagram page was wiped clean.
