MANILA -- Soulful balladeer Jason Dy is marking a major milestone in his music career with the renewal of his contract with Star Music, the announcement of a brand new album, and an upcoming 10th anniversary concert.
In an interview after the contract signing on Thursday, Dy expressed his deep gratitude for continuing his journey with his longtime label.
“Siyempre, sobrang saya ko po. Sobrang happy. Sobrang grateful ko rin po sa Star Music na nabigyan ulit ako nila ng pagkakataon to be with Star Music. Love na love ko ang Star Music family ko. So, sobrang thankful ako na I can continue this chapter in my life,” he said.
This year also marks Dy’s 10th year in the music industry, a feat he credits to his passion for performing and songwriting.
“10 years… first thing that comes to mind is talagang ito po 'yung gusto ko talaga. Love ko po talaga ang paggawa ng music, love ko po ang pag-perform. Ito po talaga ang tawag ng aking kaluluwa. Thankful po ako na umabot po ako ng 10 years. Sana more years pa po,” he said.
Looking back, Dy shared that longevity in the industry is no easy feat.
“Natutunan ko po talaga na it takes a lot of hard work, it takes a lot of dedication and passion for your craft para umabot ng ganito katagal. Wish ko lang 10 or more years pa po,” he said.
As he looks ahead to the next chapter of his career, Dy is focused on creating more music and reaching new audiences.
“Siguro mag-release pa po ng maraming music. Mas makaabot pa po ng mas maraming tao, to be able to touch more lives. Gusto ko pang mag-travel, gusto ko pang makantahan ang mga kababayan natin, mga Kapamilya sa ibang bansa. Makipag-collaborate pa po sa mga artists dito sa Pilipinas,” he said.
One of the highlights of his 10th year is his upcoming anniversary concert entitled “SoliDYfied: A Decade of Jason Dy” happening on June 27 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater. The concert will be produced by fellow OPM stars Yeng Constantino and KZ Tandingan.
“Excited po ako sa concert this coming June. Marami po tayong aabangan na production numbers. This is a celebration of my 10th year — a retrospective ng mga kantang na-perform ko before at bibigyan natin ng bagong flavor. Mga songs po natin na minahal po ninyo. Isang masayang party ito, isang masayang celebration,” he said.
With new music on the horizon and a major concert produced by two of OPM’s finest, Dy continues to solidify his place in the industry — proving that a decade is just the beginning.
