OPM band The Juans delighted fans with a special heart’s month gift as they released their latest single, "bestfriend."
In an exclusive interview with PUSH ABS-CBN, the band shared the inspiration behind their playful yet deeply relatable take on unrequited love.
“‘bestfriend’ is a song that really hits home para sa maraming listeners, it's about that special someone na hindi mo lang kaibigan, pero baka may deeper feelings na rin,” the band explained.
The track captures the emotions of realizing the potential of a close friendship turning into something more.
The Juans revealed that the song was inspired by both their personal experiences and stories shared by their fans, called Juanistas.
“Inspired siya sa mga stories ng fans and even some of our own experiences. The songwriting process was super organic, parang kwentuhan lang, tapos unti-unti, nagkaroon ng melody at lyrics na swak sa emotions ng kanta,” they explained.
“It's heartfelt, it's real, and we hope it resonates with a lot of people.”
“bestfriend” is the band’s second single release this year, following “Pasensyoso” last January. Sticking to a theme of different love stories in their recent releases, The Juans expressed their excitement about working on an upcoming album that will explore various aspects of love.
“We love telling stories through our music, lalo na ‘yung relatable sa maraming tao. Our upcoming album will have songs about different kinds of love,” they told PUSH ABS-CBN.
The band emphasized that their new album would explore a mix of emotions and narratives.
“Hindi lang romantic, pero pati self-love, love for our fans, and even heartbreak. May mga upbeat tracks na masaya, may hugot songs din, so there’s something for everyone,” they stated.
“Excited kami kasi, it's shaping up to be one of our most personal and dynamic albums yet!” they added.
Speaking of an upcoming album, The Juans also teased an exciting project that they want their fans and listeners to look forward to this year.
“We’re definitely planning something big for 2025. Hindi pa namin pwedeng i-reveal ang details, yun ang dapat abangan ng mga tao,” they shared.
“We want to celebrate our music and our journey with everyone who has supported us. So to our fans, keep an eye out for announcements, malapit na!”
In a previous press release, lead vocalist and keyboardist Carl Guevarra confirmed plans for a full album.
“We’re working on a full album that we’re really excited for people to hear,” he said. “It’s got that familiar hugot that everyone loves pero this time, we’re also exploring new themes.”

Acoustic guitarist RJ Cruz shared that the band is injecting a more fun and colorful vibe into their sound.
“Each member is stepping up to take a bigger role in shaping the band’s sound this time. We're not just sticking to what’s familiar—trying kami this time ng ibang genres and we’ll push our creative boundaries to bring something fresh sa fans,” RJ shared.
Bassist Chael Adriano also added, “We plan to release more tracks that explore our journey through relationships, healing, and finding our way.”
