“ASAP's” 30th anniversary party was a rollercoaster of emotions, showcasing not just the world-class entertainment the Sunday variety show is known for but as well as the love and bond that has been built over the years. It was packed with energetic performances, heartwarming reunions, epic comebacks, nostalgic moments, and happy tears. Here's a behind-the-scenes footage that captured everything that made the #ASAPhomecoming episode, aired on March 2, truly special.
In the video, one can sense the excitement in the air as artists, both legends and rising stars, began arriving with huge smiles and big hugs for each other. Before stepping onto the stage, some went through last-minute rehearsals, because one thing that has truly made “ASAP” unbeatable over the past three decades is the effort that goes into every performance. The backstage was alive with a buzz of energy, as both the artists and behind-the-scenes crew worked tirelessly to ensure everything went off without a hitch.
Among the highlights of the day was the homecoming of old-school “ASAP” icons. Pops Fernandez, one of “ASAP”’s pioneer hosts from 1995, graced the opening act, singing "All Things (Just Keep Getting Better)" wrapped in the vibrant rush of ‘90s ASAP feels.
Of course, no homecoming is ever complete without a little kilig. Two of “ASAP”’s biggest heartthrobs Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby had the crowd swooning with a romantic serenade of Coldplay's “Yellow” and “Fix You.” Cristine Reyes—one of “ASAP”’s dance goddesses from the early 2010s—made a sultry comeback with a hot cowgirl-themed number. The stage transformed into a dance arena with the return of the iconic ASAP SupahDance U segment, with legendary dance guru Georcelle Dapat-Sy of G-Force leading a full-on dance class right on stage just like the old times.
To honor the legacy of Ariel Rivera, who was one of the show’s original hosts (alongside Pops, Martin Nievera, and Puerto Rican beauty queen Dayanara Torres), the ASAP Birit Queens—Angeline Quinto, Jona, Morissette Amon, and Klarisse de Guzman— reunited to sing a medley of his greatest hits.
ASAP frontliners like Gary Valenciano, Regine Velasquez, Ogie Alcasid, Yeng Constantino, Erik Santos, and Jed Madela delivered powerhouse performances with their timeless voices. Young artists like Darren Espanto, Belle Mariano, Donny Pangilinan, Kyle Echarri, Maymay Entrata, and Joshua Garcia and groups Rockoustic Heartthrobs, Dance Sirens, and PBB Gen 11 housemates stepped up and brought their A-game.
There were surprise collaborations as well. Maki and James Reid took the stage by storm, while Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino made fans kilig with their sweet chemistry. Meanwhile, the cast of "Saving Grace: The Untold Story" headlined by Julia Montes and rookie child star Zia Grace joined in on the celebrations to mark their series' much-anticipated premiere.
Behind the scenes, the production team went all out with top-notch set design. They also set up a second stage in the open air outside the studio and even created an alley filled with ASAP memorabilia, giving the artists a walk down memory lane. Plus, the energy from the audience and fandoms truly brought the celebration to life.
