Currently starring opposite Kathryn Bernardo and Maja Salvador in the new Dreamscape series Someone, Someday, James Reid is definitely diving right back into his acting roots after an almost decade-long hiatus from doing teleseryes. The 33-year-old actor and singer-songwriter was recently revealed as part of the star-studded cast of Regal Entertainment’s 2026 Metro Manila Film Festival official entry Haunted Carnival, something he is looking forward to working on this year.

During the Haunted Carnival official cast announcement event held last July 26, James apologized to the press via a video for not being present because he was out of the country. He also expressed his excitement about being part of a horror film for the first time in his entire career.

“I’m so sorry I couldn’t be there in person. I’m currently in Sydney. But I’d just like to talk a little about this project, Haunted Carnival. I think one of the main reasons why I said yes to this project, it’s really a genre that I haven’t explored yet, so when I heard from the Regal team (that this is) a horror slasher set in the '80s, I said, ‘That sounds really fun!’” he said.

The Fil-Aussie artist also expressed his excitement to work with rising young director Joey de Guzman and with other cast members like Maricel Soriano, John Arcilla, Julia Barretto, Fyang Smith, and RK Bagatsing, all of whom he is working with for the very first time.

“I’m very excited to work with direk Joey de Guzman. I love his work so far so I’m very excited for that. Also about the cast. I was very excited to hear about the cast that was going to be in the project. It’s very diverse and I haven’t been able to work with, I think, almost everyone in the cast so I’m sure it’s going to be very exciting how all these characters, very different characters come together in the film,” he shared.

The Haunted Carnival star is set to start shooting his 2026 Metro Manila Film Festival entry later this year. “As we approach the shoot, you know I’m very excited to play Lean. I’m very excited to build this character and dive into this crazy, haunted carnival world,” he added
