Miley Cyrus shared the story behind how Taylor Swift penned a song for Hannah Montana: The Movie.
Taylor wrote “You’ll Always Find Your Way Back Home,” which was performed by Miley in the film and featured on its official soundtrack.
"Taylor had pitched that song along with a lot of other writers and songs, and we were just kind of curating the thing that would mostly kind of bring the story of the film to life," she recalled in an interview with Variety.
Miley shared that she chose the song because it encapsulated what they needed for the film’s finale.
"And so we wanted a really big song for the finale of that. It needed to feel celebratory because you know, obviously Miley had just told the biggest secret, and so we needed something that felt like the kind of balloon-like, drops all the way down. You get grounded, you get still, but it needs to go all the way back up, so I love that song," she remarked.
The lyrics go: "You can change your hair, and you can change your clothes. You can change your mind, that's just the way it goes... you'll always find your way back home."
Reflecting on the lyrics, Miley remarked that the message of the song resonates with her, too. "I love to change hair, change clothes, change my mind. I love to experiment so those lyrics, even though they are Hannah lyrics they are actually kind of relate to me and my thoughts, too," she stated.
Hannah Montana: The Movie was released in 2009 and achieved a box office gross of $169.2 million worldwide.
The movie follows Hannah Montana in the middle of her popularity taking over her life. She is urged by her father to take "a trip to her hometown of Crowley Corners, Tennessee to get some perspective on what matters in life the most," as per IMDb.
Miley is set to star in the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special, which will be released on March 24 on Disney+.

According to a previous press release from Disney, the special would be recorded before a live studio audience and would feature an exclusive in-depth interview with Miley, hosted by Alex Cooper. The conversation would offer a personal look at how one of pop culture’s most recognizable characters came to life and the lasting impact the series and its star have had on fans around the world.
During the special, Miley would "revisit the moments, music and memories that defined an era." Viewers could also expect previously unseen archival footage and the return of some of the show's most beloved sets.
