Kapamilya host Bianca Gonzalez gave two reasons as to why she thinks Pinoy Big Brother continues to be a successful reality show despite it being in the industry for 20 years now. In the recent episode of Jodi Sta Maria’s Let’s Drink to That, the PBB housemate-turned-host shared some insights she has learned over the several years hosting the hit reality program.
Bianca shared that the chemistry of the housemates and the participation of the fans plays a huge part as to why a PBB season will be deemed successful.

“We always say na ang secret or key ng isang super successful season is yung casting talaga–– yung mix ng housemates. Every time na may final casting, kapag minatch match mo na, even if it looks good on paper, you’ll really never know until mag sama sama sila sa loob ng bahay at magkaroon sila ng chemistry,” Bianca explained.
“Yes, chemistry ng housemates–– personality nila–– pero ang laking bagay din ng fan support,” she added.
The PBB host then recalled how devoted the fans are when it comes to their favorite housemate–– which is seen through the amount of votes being received just to save them. She also noted that fans could also make or break the housemates–– either they love them or not.
“Grabe, I would say yung Pinoy Big Brother it gets fans like no other kasi grabe yung devotion nila sa favorite housemate nila…”

“Very polarizing–– it’s either super love na love ka nila or ayaw ka nila,” she continued.
Despite this, Bianca expressed how the fans would market the show themselves to non-viewers of the program through the use of social media. Netizens would see different edits of the fans’ favorite housemates on TikTok and Facebook which would pique their interest to watch the show.
“I think huge part yun kasi every time people post about it or make their own edits, sila na yung nag gegenerate ng content for the show. It’s not just us or the network kumbaga kapag pinopost siya ng mga fans, marketing rin yun for the show. It’s those two together na feeling ko kaya sumabog yung season na ito,” she shared.
PBB reached another level of success after the first-ever Celebrity Collab Edition between ABS-CBN and GMA. Due to the popularity of the collaboration, a second season is now underway and new sets of housemates from the Kapamilya and Kapuso networks shall grace the famous Bahay ni Kuya.
