MANILA -- Actor Carlo Aquino received some heated words from his own mother after she watched his "pillow fight" scene with Anne Curtis on "It's Okay To Not Be Okay."
The scene is one of the popular K-Drama's most iconic moments, and Aquino's mother joined the show's fans to see how it will be adapted in the Filipino version.
"'Yung pillow fight scene namin, maraming nagmemessage sa 'kin," Aquino said shortly before he and Curtis revealed the mid-season poster for their show.
"'Yung nanay ko, nagalit -- masyado raw malakas ang palo ko kay Anne," he revealed. "Buti na lang, nilabas 'yung BTS (behind the scenes), so nakita na sabi ni Anne, dito, dito, sa ulo nga."
"Nagagalit siya sa akin na hindi ko mapalo si Anne Curtis," he added.
Curtis, for her part, was delighted to receive the positive feedback and good reviews of the show.
"Maraming salamat, lalo na pag sinasabing we lived up to your expectations," she said. "We love how we gave it a Filipino touch."
Curtis was all praises for Aquino's performance and stressed that his depiction of "Matmat" shines a light on people on the spectrum.
"The comment we also got so far, pag sinasabi nila na maraming salamat for showing us that how those in the spectrum can function," she said. "It really means so much to us."
"[I'm] happy, pero sana 'yung message na 'wag sana silang i-discriminate, kasi high-functioning naman sila. Kailangan lang ipaliwanag yung iba sa kanila para maintindihan nila kung nasaang sitwasyon sila," Aquino added, for his part.
The Philippine adaptation of "It's Okay To Not Be Okay" airs in advance on Netflix Philippines and iWant, and on primetime free TV on week nights.
