With an acting career that has spanned more than 35 years starting from his days as a child actor along with his twin brother Raymond, kapamilya actor Richard Gutierrez has already had his share of a wide variety of roles from comedies, romance, drama, and action. He last starred in the top-rated series Incognito which ended its run last June.
This month, he was also announced to headline the latest installment of Regal Entertainment’s iconic horror movie franchise Shake, Rattle, & Roll: Evil Origins.
“This will be my first Shake, Rattle, & Roll film. It’s an honor to be here. I’m super blessed to be part of this group, and to be part of this cast. To be back with Regal, I’ve done so many films with Regal and finally, we’re back and we’re going to do Shake, Rattle, & Roll. I’m super happy to be back. Masaya talaga ako. I’m excited to work with everyone on board. I’m looking forward to this. And of course, kasama si Ms. Manilyn (Reynes), the queen of Shake, Rattle, & Roll. So I’m super excited to work with everyone here."

Aside from reuniting with Manilyn Reynes whom he first worked with as a child actor in 1990 in the family comedy film Feel Na Feel, the horror film project also marks Richard’s first time to be paired onscreen with Ivana Alawi. “it’s my first time to be paired with Ivana. It’s very exciting, of course. It’s a fresh team up for me and it’s always good to work with younger co-actors,” he added.
Now at 41, Richard admits there are still a lot of actors in the industry that he would love to work with in future projects. “Madami pa akong hindi nakakatrabaho, surprisingly (laughs). Madami pa akong gusto makatrabaho in the future, definitely. In ABS-CBN alone, I haven’t worked with a lot of people there. And GMA also has a lot of young talents now. So there’s a lot more people that I want to work with for sure,” he shared with PUSH ABS-CBN in an exclusive interview during the Shake, Rattle, & Roll: Evil Origins story conference.

During the SRR Evil Origins story conference, Richard said he considers it an honor to attach his name to the iconic horror movie franchise which has lasted for more than four decades already.
“I’ve done horror films before. I’ve done some suspense thrillers also. But this one is very exciting because it’s Shake, Rattle, & Roll. And pag Pilipino ka, alam mo automatically na household name ang Shake, Rattle, & Roll. Lalo na sa Metro Manila Film Festival. I’m just super excited about this one kasi we have a lot of young talents, I’m working with my director from Incognito, Keith (Monteverde) has joined in to produce the film, and ang ganda nung vision niya, ang ganda nung ideas niya. It’s just a good time to be part of Shake, Rattle, & Roll,” he explained.

Aside from acting, Richard also shared with PUSH ABS-CBN his plans to work behind the camera in the future as well. “Yes definitely. That’s in the pipeline. That’s part of my goals in the future. Any genre is nice but I concentrate more on action. I think that’s my strength. And ako ngayon, parang I want to help the movie industry. Parang I want to have an advocacy to bring the people back in the cinemas. I want to help the movie industry na huwag mawala yung malaking talon ng sinehan so I’m excited for this Metro Manila Film Festival,” he revealed.
