The official trailer for the upcoming action film The Ride, starring Piolo Pascual and Kyle Echarri, has been released.
Cornerstone Studios dropped the trailer on Friday, August 22. "Kung minsan ang lansangan ay hindi lang nahahati sa kaliwa at kanan kundi kahit sa pagitan ng buhay at kamatayan," the studio wrote in the caption.
In the film, Piolo takes on the role of Barry, a father estranged from his son Leo, portrayed by Kyle. The trailer teases their tense and complicated relationship, with Leo eventually discovering that his father is entangled in criminal activities.
Directed by Thop Nazareno, The Ride is set to be released exclusively in SM Cinemas on September 24.
Fans online were quick to react to the trailer.
"OMG! ito naaaa," one fan commented.
"Can't wait, Seatedddd!!" another fan wrote.
In an interview on Magandang Buhay back in May 2023, Piolo and Kyle teased what fans can expect from The Ride movie.
"Gumawa kami ng pelikula The Ride. ... We filmed last year and we finished a month or two months ago. It's an action film. Nakakatuwa. First time namin together," Piolo shared.
Kyle added: "Sobra po akong excited first time ko po gumawa ng ganung movie. First time kong mag-action talaga so I am excited for people to see. It's a very different kind of project that I don't think you've even seen Piolo do before."
On his experience working with Piolo, Kyle relayed: "He didn't make me feel any pressure. Noong una siyempre na pressure ako — Papa P na 'yon, sobra. Pero ngayon on set sobrang magkaibigan lang talaga, it didn't feel like work anymore."
Piolo commended Kyle as an actor, saying: "Dito sa pelikula namin he's a big revelation, of course he's known more as a singer but [also] as an actor as you've seen in The Iron Heart. And dito sa The Ride, iba rin 'yung ipinakita niya, iba rin 'yung character."
