It's that time of the year when we get to hear some inspiring Father's Day stories, and when it comes to this, Iñigo Pascual’s take on his dad, Piolo Pascual, is the kind that makes you smile because behind the “Ultimate Heartthrob” image that fans know as Papa P, Iñigo sees someone who’s always just been Dad, the kind who never misses a moment and somehow finds a way to stay present even with a packed showbiz schedule.
In fact, if he could give Piolo an award, he’d call it the “Being Present Award” because no matter how busy he gets, Piolo has always made it a point to show up. “Despite being Papa P,” as Iñigo puts it. "In every milestone that I've had in my life, I feel like he's always there to support me and lift me up," he shares.
Asked about the weirdest or funniest advice his dad has ever given him, Iñigo takes a pause, unable to recall a specific line but says that Piolo is actually a lot more fun and playful behind the cameras than people might expect. So instead of quoting an advice, he reveals something that pretty much proves this fun side of Papa P.
Apparently, they now share the same circle of barkada, and Iñigo finds it funny that some of his dad’s closest friends these days are actually younger than him. “‘Yung mga barkada ni Papa ngayon mas bata pa sa akin, sina Kyle [Echarri], sina JK [Labajo],” he smiles. And while it’s not something Piolo ever really told him outright, Iñigo takes it as his dad’s subtle way of showing him to just stay young and not take everything too seriously. With Piolo's youthful energy, Iñigo feels they’ve always understood each other, even with the generational gap.
While the rest of the world might know Piolo as a matinee idol, fitness buff, or dramatic actor, Iñigo knows him best as someone who simply lives joyfully and shows up for the people who matter.
