Disney's Marvel Studios has postponed the release of the upcoming films Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
According to a report by Variety, Doomsday is now slated for release on December 18, 2026, while Secret Wars has been moved to December 17, 2027.
Avengers: Doomsday was originally scheduled to premiere on May 1, 2026, with Secret Wars initially set for May 7, 2027.
Back in July 2024, it was announced that Robert Downey Jr. would return to the Marvel universe, this time as Victor Von Doom aka Doctor Doom.
Robert took part in the announcement at the Comic-Con 2024. "New mask, same task. What did I tell you? I like playing complicated characters," the actor said at the event.
As per its website, Marvel described Doctor Doom as a "scientific genius, [with] an unquenchable lust for power, and a towering ego," who "has forged himself into one of the world’s greatest villains."
Last March, Marvel announced the rest of the actors who will be part of Avenger's Doomsday including Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Vanessa Kirby (Susan Storm), Florence Pugh (Yelena), and Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), among others.
Joe and Anthony Russo, collectively known as the Russo Brothers, are set to be the directors of the upcoming two Avengers movies.

They previously directed Captain America: The Winter Soldier in 2014, Captain America: Civil War in 2016, Avengers: Infinity War in 2018, and Avengers: Endgame in 2019.
"When we directed Avengers: Endgame, we really believed it was the end for us in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That four-movie run was incredible, and it left us creatively spent," Joe Russo stated in an interview with Variety.
On what made them come back, Joe highlighted that the reason was Avengers: Secret Wars which he described as a "very special story."
"It’s the biggest story that Marvel comics ever told. It’s the reason that Anthony and I are standing up here," he stated.
The duo remarked that in order to lay the foundation for Secret Wars, a vital character like Doctor Doom is required.
