Returning to her romantic comedy roots on the big screen after almost a decade, Kim Chiu shared that she was excited when she first found out she was starring with Paulo Avelino in Star Cinema’s upcoming film My Love Will Make You Disappear.
“Napa-O to the M to the G talaga ako. Sabi ko talaga, ‘Is this a new rom-com?’ Kasi last rom-com ko ten years ago, All You Need is Pag-Ibig. ‘Yung madami kami. Parang bago din nun, the year before, I did Bride For Rent so medyo matagal na rin talaga,” she shared during the My Love Will MAke You Disappear media day held last February 19, 2025 inside ABS-CBN.
“It feels amazing! Yes, it’s like a breathe of fresh air. ‘Yung trailer namin parang nakaka-shock, tapos ‘yung support pa ng madlang people,” she added. “Gustong-gusto ko panuorin!”
In the film, Kim plays the role of a NBSB (no boyfriend since birth) woman in her 30s named Sari. “Government employee siya. Nag-a-approve siya ng mga marriage certificates. Tapos sawi siya. Nag-a-approve siya ng mga nagmamahalan na dyowa-ers,” she said.

After being in the limelight for two decades, Kim shares how it feels to have different love team partners through the years. “Siyempre from 16 years old to thirties, masasabi ko na lumaki ako sa harap ng mga taong sumusuporta sa akin and napanuod nila naka-ilang love team ako. Pangatlo na ito. Per decade kasi ako nag-la-love team (laughs). So per decade din ‘yung experience from puppy love ‘di ba? So yung experience ng genre ng pelikula ay per decade din. So ‘yung experience ng kilig ay nasa 18, 20s, and 30s. So it’s amazing!” she shared.
Just like Paulo, Kim was previously paired with fellow Kapamilya stars Gerald Anderson and Xian Lim in past series and films.

Even after starring in major projects like the Linlang and What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim? Kim says Paulo’s charm is really unique because of his eyes. “Hindi man siya magsalita, parang may pinapahiwatig talaga yung eyes because eyes are the windows of the soul. So nakita ko na ‘yung soul mo,” she quipped.
Kim singled out Paulo’s expressive eyes as one reason for his appeal. “Sa eksena namin, feeling ko parang ‘yun ‘yung charm niya as a person, na hindi man siya madaldal pero ‘yung mata niya gusto dumaldal. Expressive, ganun!” she revealed.
When asked when was the last time she felt kilig with him on or off camera, the pretty chinita admitted it was right before the presscon that day. “Binigyan niya ako ng tinapay kanina. Mahina si ate mo (laughs). Mahinang nilalang siya. Pero dinalhan niya akong pasalubong kanina after Showtime. Lahat kami binigyan. ‘Yun lang (laughs),” she added.

Unlike her role onscreen, Kim believes that people should never give up on love, even when it can be painful sometimes. “Kasi ‘di ba, love naman ay isang bagay na nararamdaman natin na hindi siya nabibili at saka hindi siya nabibigay. Kahit na sobrang trabaho mo or sobra kang mabait na tao, hindi naman siya kusang binibigay, ini-experience siya. At saka part siya ng pagkatao natin. Na pagka nagmahal tayo, masaya tayo, malungkot tayo, ang daming nabibigay sa atin na emotions that makes us human,” she explained.
Kim is all for keeping the hope alive, trusting that love will come when it should. “Hindi dapat sukuan ‘yung love. Wag mag-close ng any doors kasi kung hindi man siya dumating ngayon, malay niyo bukas or malay niyo katabi niyo na pala. Hindi natin alam eh. Ang daming sinasabi ng love sa atin na pinapa-experience sa atin and sinasabuhay din natin. Kaya nga siya ginawa, para i-experience, hindi para i-block,” she added.
