Flow G, Chito Miranda, and Ben&Ben perform at Puregold’s OPM Con Generations. Josh Mercado
Chito Miranda of popular rock band Parokya Ni Edgar made a surprise appearance at Puregold's OPM Con Generations at Araneta in Quezon City, collaborating with rap superstar Flow G — in an unexpected pairing.
The two OPM giants reimagined the hit track "Harana," which was popularized by Parokya Ni Edgar in 1997 on their second album “Buruguduystunstugudunstuy.” Millennials immediately connected with the song, which is still used as a courtship soundtrack today.
While Miranda performed the hit song in its original form, the hip-hop star embellished it in his own unique style, receiving cheers from concertgoers and Puregold supporters.
It was a non-stop presentation, with the “Batugan” hitmaker rapping some of his viral hip-hop tracks. In true Flow G fashion, he did not miss a beat, delivering memorable rap numbers while dressed in all black, which added to his mysterious image.
It was also clear that the hip-hop idol respected Miranda's name by allowing him to take the spotlight while stepping back slightly to elevate the rock star.
Meanwhile, alternative folk band Ben&Ben gave the audience what they wanted: singing their mega hits "Pagtingin," "Leaves," "Saranggola," and many more.
Accompanied by their band, Ben&Ben also got the entire audience to sing — a soundtrip that will go down in OPM Con Generations history. Aside from the twins' perfect voices, it was their hearts that brought the crowd together.
Ben&Ben's trademark guitars were also highlighted in their presentation, as they sang each lyric with so much emotion.
As they exited the stage, Ben&Ben received well-deserved applause from the concertgoers, who hope to see the band again next year.
The OPM Con Generations this year, which brought together fans and artists from various generations with the shared objective of celebrating OPM in all genres, was a truly significant moment in the music scene. Puregold executives were also in attendance.
