Kapamilya stars shined at the 37th PMPC Star Awards for Television on Sunday, receiving recognition for their standout performances and contributions in 2023.
Joshua Garcia was recognized as the Best Drama Actor for his performance in “ Unbreak My Heart.” He also took home special awards including Male Celebrity of the Night and Face of the Night.
“Hindi ko matangap ang award na to kung di dahil sa co-actors ko. Thank you. Ito ay para sa buong team,” Garcia said in his speech after recovering his award during the ceremony held in Quezon City, Sunday.
Seth Fedelin and Francine Diaz also received a special recognition, The German Moreno Power Tandem of the Year, for their portrayal of Chiara and Nico in “Dirty Linen.”
“From now on 'pag nakita ko 'to, reminder ito — we are doing good. Reminder maganda ang ginagawa mo,” Diaz said.
“Sobrang malaking bagay ito sa amin. 'Yung mga narinig namin bagi umakyat, mga seniors, kagagalang na actor, shows, maraming salamat. Pinakulay niyo bawat buhay ng bawat Pilipino,” Fedelin added.
“Senior High” stars Gela Atayde and Elijah Canlas were able to bag the Best New Female TV Personality and Best Supporting Actor respectively.
“I owe this to my cast members. I was new and pressured especially I was a nepo baby. It was a lot of pressure. I really want to thank people who believed in me, Dreamscape and Sir Deo (Endrinal). Nagpapasalamat ako sa kanya everyday,” Atayde said.
“Ginawa ko ito ng panahong madami ako binibuhat. Kakamatay lang ng bunso namin, so inaalay ko to sa kanya,” Canlas shared.
Meanwhile Cherry Pie Picache earned Best Supporting Actress for “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.”
“Kaya ako nagpunta kasi bihira ito. Lagi nominated lang. It is a good affirmation for all the hard work and love I put into my craft,” she enthused.
In the hosting categories, Paolo Ballesteros and Robi Domingo tied for Best Male TV Host.
“This is my first award as Best Male TV Host,” Domingo revealed in his speech. “To be nominated alongside the big names is an honor itself. I prayed for this, I dreamed for this, I hoped for this, now it is here.”
For the female category, the award went to Kim Chiu for her contributions to “It’s Showtime,” which was named the Best Variety Show for 2023.
Veteran broadcaster Karen Davila also scored an accolade after being named as the year’s Best Female Newscaster.
