OPM singer Maki and drag superstar Maxie Andreison showed support for the World AIDS Day celebration held at the University of the Philippines Sunken Garden in Quezon City last November 30.

Carrying the slogan "Proud and Protected," Maki stressed the importance of having more similar events to influence the youth in normalizing sex education to help them protect themselves.

“Para sa akin, this event is also a very special thing for us to do, especially now ako, Gen Z 'yung audience ko and I know a lot of people have sensitive outlook towards this kind of events," Maki said.

"For me talaga, we need to put out more events like this so that the youth can be, magkaroon sila ng more articulation when it comes to sex education," he added.

As for Maxie, "Masaya ako na hindi lang ako ‘bakla lang’, I am a gay with a purpose now. Itong event na ito ay punong-puno ng purpose."

"Sana maging normal na 'yung usapin tungkol sa sekswal (sex education) napaka-importante lalo na sa impact sa mga kabataan ngayon, kung alam nila 'yung ganitong paksa, mas maproprotektahan nila ang sarili nila," she added.

Maki performed his hits like "Namumula" and "Dilaw," and stressed that he understood his influence as a singer.

“As an OPM artist who can influence other people, being a part of this, it creates a community that is safe to talk about this kind of topics,” he said.

“Ang OPM hindi lang siya musika, impluwensiya rin siya.”

Aside from the entertainment, the event also highlighted the Guinness World record achieved.

DKT Health Inc. together with Watsons Philippines, broke the World Guinness Record for most condoms donated in an hour. The record to beat was 2,500 and the event was able to reach 13,312.
