Actress Matet de Leon shared the various things her mom, the late Nora Aunor, would do to her and her siblings back when they were younger. In an interview with veteran journalist Kara David, the celebrity daughter expressed how much her mom made sure to give all her time to her children whenever she could.

Nora had five children–Ian, Lotlot, Matet, Kenneth, and Kiko– with her former husband, Christopher de Leon. Only Ian is their biological child, while the others are adopted.

Matet admitted that her mother has always been funny but also strict, especially towards her, as she considered herself the one who always gave her mother a headache. She recalled how her mom disciplined her when they were younger for something she did wrong.

“She can be funny but sa akin madalas, mas strikto siya, kaysa iba. Ako talaga pinakasutil niya in many ways. Pinalo ako ni mommy once kasi nag mura ako sa school–– ng prep,” she shared.

“Ako yung pinaka sakit talaga ng ulo malala,” she added.

The actress then shared how the late National Artist would make sure that she and her siblings had a bonding moment with her whenever her schedule allowed.

“When she has time, babawi talaga siya. Nag pasara siya ng amusement park–– sa Fiesta Carnival. Pinasara niya yan. Hindi pa uso ang block screening, pinasara niya sa Virra Mall. Manonood kami ng Terminator 2. Last full show pero kami lang,” she recalled.

While being a daughter of a superstar may be a dream for most people, Matet admitted that she didn't like it because of how demanding and busy her work schedule was.

“Actually, hindi ko type kasi laging wala si mommy. Lagi siyang wala, lagi siyang nasa ibang bansa. Although, meron siyang pinapakausapan to take care of us–– another national artist [Ricky Lee],” she shared.

“Mahal na mahal rin kami ni tito Ricky. Mahal na mahal din namin siya so a few times a week, he would go to our house and take care of us. Kakamustahin niya kami, but then iba pa rin siyempre yung nanay ko nandoon. Medyo hindi namin siya nakakasama madalas,” she expressed.

Previously, Matet opened up about her grief following her mother’s death back in 2025.
