Celebrity son and politician Michael Pacquiao wasn’t able to attend the wedding of his older brother, Jimuel Pacquiao, in the United States, to focus on helping the victims of the devastating earthquake in General Santos City. In an Instagram post by his girlfriend Joyce Tan Custodio, he chose to serve his constituents and remained in their hometown.

Michael currently serves as a councilor in General Santos City.

“We always do it For GOD.🙏🏽💯 Sometimes life has a way of changing plans in the most unexpected moments,” Joyce wrote.

In her caption, Joyce expressed how important the wedding of Jimuel was for Michael as it was a family moment, but he decided to help out those in need. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the earthquake was caused by movement in the Cotabato Trench and resulted in several casualties across the region.

“Missing an important family moment was not easy, but your commitment to serving others speaks volumes about the kind of leader and person you are,” she added.

Michael’s girlfriend then described how passionate and willing he was to serve and assist those affected by the unfortunate disaster.

“When the 7.8 magnitude earthquake came in Gensan, your thoughts immediately turned to the people who depended on you. Even when some people have negative things to say about the way you serve, I know your heart and the intentions behind everything you do. Not everyone will understand the sacrifices you make or the challenges you face, but I see your dedication, your compassion, and your commitment to helping others,” she expressed.

“I am so proud of your heart, your resilience, and your unwavering sense of duty. No matter what challenges come our way, I will always be here beside you and believing in you,” she continued.

Netizens commended Michael in the comments section for choosing to perform public service despite the important family occasion taking place on the other side of the world.

Meanwhile, Jimuel tied the knot with his then-girlfriend, now wife, Carolina Pimentel, with whom he shares a daughter. A glimpse of their wedding was shared on social media by family and friends who attended.
