Following her hosting stint at the Miss Universe Philippines 2026 grand coronation night held last May 2 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, drag queen Marina Summers shared in a social media post that she and fellow drag artist Angel Galang have been able to resolve the issue between them privately following the online backlash that both of them received during that night.
In her Facebook post last May 6, she wrote, “Everyone is entitled to their opinions. What you are not entitled to is disrespect. While I may not be able to change everyone’s opinion, I would like to call on everyone who believes in me. I am truly grateful for all the outpour of love and support. I ask that you only spread love, grace, and kindness to the people around you. Angel and I were able to resolve things privately. Let’s give her space and understanding.

The Drag Race Philippines Season 1 runner-up also came to the defense of Angel — despite the online friction — and reminded netizens that bullying is not something she will tolerate.
“Hosting Miss Universe Philippines 2026 has been one of the greatest milestones of my career and my life. And while I understand that there will be different opinions and some resistance to it, I did not expect the vile & alarming amount of transphobia, hate, and even death threats thrown at me. Moreso, the hate and harassment being thrown to my sister, Angel.
"This is not what I stand for.
"This NEEDS TO STOP.”
The talented drag artist and Preview May 2026 cover girl also shared how she was affected by Angel’s initial statements, but chose to come to the defense of someone from her community despite her personal feelings.

“Sa lahat ng trabaho at success na pinaghirapan natin, dala-dala ko ang pag-asa na iaangat nito ang pagtanggap sa LGBTQIA+. While I was admittedly hurt by her statements, I do not condone any hurtful and hateful words thrown at her because of it. Huwag itong gamiting excuse para manira ng kapwa. It just sets us back and everything we’ve worked so hard for just loses its meaning.”
Three days after the MUPH pageant, Angel posted a public apology on her Facebook page to Marina and the local community for her earlier statements. In her post, the younger sibling of Maxie Andreison revealed she had already been receiving death threats since posting about Marina last weekend.
She wrote, "Mga tao, nakilala niyo ako na madalas hindi seryoso at nilalaro nalang ang lahat ng bagay, pero may gusto lang ako ibahagi sa inyo. Nagkamali ako sobra sa nagawa ko, pero mali naman din siguro na pati buhay ko ay pinagbabantaan na.
"Naintindihan ko na. Naintindihan ko na hindi lahat laro, hindi lahat ginagawang biro, or dinadaan sa saya lalo na kapag mabigat ang mga bagay bagay. Naintindihan ko na ang bigat ng salitang 'sisterhood' at 'tunay na suporta."
"Malaki ang pasasalamat ko sa mga taong sumusuporta pa rin hanggang ngayon, pero parang hindi naman tama na hinihiling na mamatay ako. Naisip ko lang, hanggang saang sukdulan ang galit niyo para hilingin na mawala ako sa eksena?
"Salamat uli sa mga lessons na binigay niyo sa'kin, isa itong malaking pagkatuto sa akin na maging maingat sa pagsabi ng mga opinyon, lalo na kung alam kong makakasakit ako ng damdamin.
"Habang ako ay lalayo at patuloy na dadamdamin ang mga aral ng sitwasyon, makikipag-coordinate ako sa mga tamang tao dahil hindi naman din tama pati ang buhay ko ay pinagbabantaan.
"Salamat sa mga tunay na nagmamahal at sana maghilom din ang lahat ng sugat sa takdang panahon."
Last year, Marina made history as the first Filipina drag queen to walk the red carpet at the Cannes International Film Festival in Europe. In 2024, she proudly represented the Filipino drag and queer community and made it to the Top 4 of the second season of RuPaul's Drag Race: UK vs the World.
