Filipina drag queen Marina Summers opened up about her emotional breast augmentation journey as a trans woman on her YouTube channel.
Marina flew to Davao for her breast augmentation procedure, a gender-affirming surgery mostly undergone by trans women, last January 7, 2026 with Dr. Berry Berina.
“I am working with Dr. Berry. She is also a trans woman plastic surgeon based in Davao. And that's also one thing that I would like to shed light on: that we have trans women surgeons here in the Philippines,” she said.
Talking about her doctor’s care that went beyond the clinic, she said, “Para akong may big sister that’s guiding me throughout this journey.”
Marina recounted how she started taking HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) last year, and opened up about how last year marked the beginning of her transition.
“Early last year, I started my transitioning journey. Finally, I started socially transitioning last year. And then later on in the year, I started with my HRT,” she said. “And it was really, really a big step towards my trans journey. I would say it's one of the best decisions I've ever done in my life.”
When she was asked where it all began, Marina found it hard to pinpoint a specific moment, explaining that her journey wasn’t a single decision but a gradual realization, and that the woman in her had always been with her ever since she was a child.
Marina’s drag sister, Eva Le Queen, stayed with her throughout the procedure in Davao and took care of her during that time.
“I'm happy that I flew all the way to Davao to be here with her to see the transformation right before my eyes. I wouldn't miss this for the world,” they expressed.
Marina shared her last words to Adrian, the person she once went by before her transition, as she reflected on the journey that brought her to who she is today.
“I feel like I've already let go of Adrian a long time ago. But if I get to talk to him right now, I would like to thank him for allowing me to be the woman that I am today,” she expressed, showing pictures of her younger days.
Seeing photos of her breasts after the surgery also brought an emotional moment. “Ang ganda. They're so beautiful,” she said.
A month after the surgery, Marina worked on a shoot for the reveal, describing it as a significant moment. “This shoot is, I would say, very important because this is the first glance that we're going to give to everybody, to the world of the new era of Marina.”
She reflected on how the surgery has helped her grow more confident and at peace with herself, saying it affirmed her womanhood, femininity, and personality. She also expressed gratitude for the amazing people who supported her along the way.
“I would say I've grown to be more confident with my body. I've become more at peace with where I am at in my life right now. And it just affirmed my womanhood, my femininity, my personality,” she remarked. “And I'm happy that I'm surrounded by amazing people during this journey before I step out into the world, welcome everybody in, in this journey.”
“I cannot wait to fully live my life as a woman, not in the shadows anymore. But finally, I am stepping into the light. And now that I am here, I'm not going to let anyone dim my light,” she added.
