Erwan Heussaff shared his thoughts on friendships affected by differing political beliefs, saying moral values should also be considered when supporting public figures.
On social media platform Threads, a netizen named Zac Alviz asked whether it is worth ending years of friendship over political differences.
“Is it really worth throwing away years of friendship because you have different political opinions?” the user posted.
Erwan responded by saying political disagreements alone may not necessarily end friendships, but it becomes different when moral issues are involved.
“Political opinions, no. But if it crosses into moral territory, yes,” Erwan wrote. “I.e If someone was the most charitable person you knew but was also a known sexual abuser. If you can tolerate that and support that person, it says a lot about one's moral character.”

Erwan also pointed out what he considers a “red flag” in political discourse.
“Another red flag is if a person can only say positive things about their chosen politicians. We all know no one is perfect or even close to it, so If you can't challenge your own beliefs, we can't be friends. We should constantly practice discernment. Not blindly defend the people we support but regularly question whether our choices still align with our values,” he added.

Erwan’s remarks earned praise from several netizens online.
“That’s it!!! You need to challenge what you believe. Do not conform on what the media or the majority says. Do your own research and vote for who you think can help you and the nation,” one netizen agreed.

Aside from discussing friendships and politics, Erwan also shared his thoughts on cancel culture, saying the same level of accountability directed at influencers and celebrities should also be applied to politicians.
This came after content creator Camille Co posted on Threads, “Imagine if the same energy spent policing 'influencers' and celebs was used to demand accountability from the people actually in power.”

Erwan agreed with the sentiment, explaining why public personalities are often “canceled” more quickly than politicians.
“I was actually thinking about that. Public personalities get canceled faster because their careers depend directly on audience approval. Politicians survive worse scandals because they’re protected by party loyalty, tribal politics, donor networks, and lower expectations. Social media is built to punish emotional, visible mistakes, not systemic failures. But yes, time to flip that narrative,” he said.

Recently, his wife, Kapamilya actress Anne Curtis, also shared her disappointment over the recent commotion in the Senate and urged Filipinos not to forget the incident.
“Just caught up on the news in the Philippines. Nakakalungkot na umabot sa sitwasyon na ganun, in fact, it’s so sad that it even happened. 😕 I guess all we can do as citizens and voters is watch, learn, take note, and continue to pray for our country. 😕🙏🏼,” Anne expressed.
