His theater breakthrough coincides with a standout run on Britain's Got Talent, where he recently earned his second Golden Buzzer during the semi-finals. Delivering a powerful rendition of “Dream On” by Aerosmith, Matty impressed both judges and audiences, prompting judge Amanda Holden to give him a live-show Golden Buzzer, sending him straight to the finals.
He first secured a Golden Buzzer from Simon Cowell earlier in March after performing "Purple Rain" by Prince during his audition.
Leading the West End cast of Jesus Christ Superstar is Sam Ryder, who takes on the role of Jesus, alongside Tyrone Huntley as Judas Iscariot. The role of King Herod will be shared across the run by Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Simon Russell Beale, Richard Armitage, Boy George, Layton Williams, and Julian Clary. They are joined by Desmonda Cathabel as Mary Magdalene and David Thaxton as Pontius Pilate.
Meanwhile, Filipino fans will also get the chance to experience the musical closer to home as Jesus Christ Superstar returns to Manila. It is part of a major international tour and is presented by GMG Productions.
It will feature a touring cast that includes Luke Street as Jesus, Javon King as Judas, Ethan Hardy Benson as Pontius Pilate, Grant Hodges as Caiaphas, and Kodiak Thompson as Annas, among others.
