Vice Ganda marked his birthday with a special vlog with his longtime friends and his comedy family.
In his latest YouTube upload, Vice welcomed MC Muah, Lassy, Petite, Divine Tetay, Negi, and the rest of the Beks Squad and Beks Friends as they gathered for his birthday salubong last month.
“For today’s video, salubong ng birthday ko. Magbabakasyon kami bukas and sa Clark ang airport so nakacheck in kami ng mga Nanay and ni Ion and pinuntahan nila ako rito para sumalubong. At, dahil nandito na rin naman sila, vlinog nila yung salubong ko at may mga regalo na rin sila sa akin kaya pinagkakitaan na rin sila,” Vice quipped.
The celebration quickly turned into a trip down memory lane, as the group swapped stories from their early days in comedy bars to their present-day successes.
MC recalled one of their most unforgettable moments during a trip to Bohol, where a seemingly relaxed moment on a swing turned into chaos.
“Alam mo sa halos dalawang dekada ng mahigit na friendship natin, maraming nakakatawang memories natin. Pero yung isa sa nakakatawa, yung nag Bohol tayo. Yung nakasira tayo ng duyan. First time ko nakita si Vice, tumalembang talaga nakita yung cycling niya,” MC recalled.
“Kung kailan tapos na, yung parang wag na tayong magtulakan. Wala naman malalaglag halika pahinga na lang tayo, nag relax nalang kami biglang tumumba.”
Vice chimed in, saying he was more worried about the cost than anything else, saying, “Sobrang nakakatawa yun. Nakalimutan kong matatanggal yung wig ko ang naisip ko talaga yung bayad.”
Meanwhile, Lassy brought up their comedy bar days, sharing a story about his failed attempt to help Vice recover his voice before a performance with his improvised “remedy.”
“Si Vice kasi kilala nating napakaganda ng boses sa comedy bar sa Punchline singer ka noon. Si Vice dumating walang boses, hindi makakanta. Sabi ko kay MC may paraan ako para magkaboses yan kaya pumunta ako ng kitchen naglaga ako ng Sprite tapos nilagyan ko ng itlog yung dilaw hinalo ko. (Sabi ko), ‘Ate mainit pa inumin mo gaganda boses mo.’ Uminom, unang kanta piyok piyok si bakla, andaming piyok.
“Tapos ito na bumaba siyempre tumalak sa akin. (Sabi ko), ‘Ate may candy pa ako,’ so tinanggap naman niya. Sampa ulit, okay kakanta ulit ako pagkanta namalat,” he said, making the friends laugh even more.
Negi, on the other hand, looked back on how nerve-wracking it used to be performing in front of Vice, recalling how he and Petite would go to extreme lengths just to get laughs whenever he was watching.
“Nakakatawa diba tuwing show niyo ni Petite tas nanonood ako sa sobrang stress niyo kung ano-ano na ginagawa niyo,” Vice remembered.
Negi added, “Grabe! Kulang nalang magpapakita na kami ng p*et kasi syempre kapag nandyan si Meme nanonood at nagshow-show tayo talagang kinakabahan tayo tapos si Petite and dami ng puti rito (points at corner of his lips). Sabi ko inaatake na kaya iyon.”
Petite and Divine Tetay also shared their own memories of working with Vice in various shows and films, highlighting their banter and naughtiness.
Vice expressed happiness spending his special day while looking back on their decade-long friendship.
“Sobrang dami naming kwento, ‘pag casual kaming nagkwekwentuhan kusang lumalabas yung mga eksena naming nakakatawa. Kasi nga ang tagal tagal na nating magkaibigan and we are still looking forward to experience a lot more fun moments together,” Vice said.
“Ayon ang fun yung mga meaningful na experience diba and I'm happy to be able to experience all those things with us. Thank you so much!” he added.
Apart from her close friends, Vice also spent his birthday with partner Ion Perez, fellow It’s Showtime host Ryan Bang, and his family, including his mother Nanay Rosario.
“Happiness and good health sa lahat ng mga baklang singkwentahin (50),” Vice said.
