Karen Davila and Bianca Gonzalez joined forces on a field mission to mark the International Women's Day on March 8.
"Today, March 8 is International Women’s Day - spurred by the women's suffrage movement, we commemorate women’s fight for equality & freedom!" Karen wrote in an Instagram post. "My UN Women sister @iamsuperbianca & I go on the ground in Virac, Catanduanes & speak to women & girls on the importance of Women Friendly Spaces against gender-based violence, the need for reproductive health empowerment for teenage girls and gender responsive care during calamities!"
In her post, Karen shared snapshots from the said mission in Catanduanes, where they held conversations with women in the community. "Meaningful trip in partnership with @unfpaph in giving women in communities a VOICE!" she remarked.
The broadcast journalist highlighted the essence of women empowerment.
"Hindi porke’t mahirap ang isang babae, wala siyang proteksyon at karapatan. Empowering women in the poorest barangays make our communities thrive!" she said.
Bianca was quick to comment on Karen's post, expressing her gratitude for their partnership.
"A most meaningful way to start Women's Month with you and the team!!! 🤍🤍🤍 Thank you for being an inspiration to me and also being so encouraging from then 'til now. Love you! To more field missions together," she said.
Karen was appointed UN Women National Goodwill Ambassador for the Philippines in August 2023. In January 2024, she led the launch of UN Women's four-year country program in the Philippines.
Meanwhile, Bianca visited Tawi-Tawi for the first time in February 2025 as part of UN Women’s Women, Peace and Security (WPS) field mission.

According to peacekeeping.un.org, Women, Peace and Security works "to ensure women’s priorities are central to peace and security decisions at all levels."
In order to attain this goal, they "address social, cultural and political barriers and protection risks that limit women’s full participation in achieving and sustaining peace."
