Olympic champion Carlos Yulo revealed that he had previously attempted to purchase an engagement ring.
"[In] 2023 triny ko po actually pero hindi ako talaga nakabili," he recalled in an interview with Boy Abunda. "Triny ko sa Japan bumili. Triny ko sa Singapore bumili pero ewan ko parang hindi sumasangayon ang mundo sa akin at that time."
His girlfriend, Chloe San Jose, shared that part of the reason was because she accidentally discovered that Carlos had been reserving a ring.
"Part of it kasi nakita ko rin po he was reserving a ring. Kasi po nag-notif siya sa email niya so then hindi ko naman po sinasadya, nakita po na nag-notif na 'reservation for a ring.' So, of course I had to tell him because we are super open and of course the surprise kasi mawawala. I don't want to lie about it naman or act surprised kasi siyempre mawawala na 'yung magic," Choe relayed in the same interview.
Carlos added: "So nung nalaman po niya na ganun, and at the same time hindi rin po kasi ako nakabili parang hindi ko muna siya ginawa."
When asked if he is looking forward to buying that ring, Carlos replied: "Yes, po. Talaga."
When asked how proud she is of Carlos's achievements in gymnastics, Chloe expressed her unwavering support.
"Of course, sobrang proud," she remarked. "I've always expressed naman how proud I am [of him] po."
Chloe also highlighted that going through the journey together has been one of the most fulfilling parts of their relationship.
"I guess with the many things we've talked about, it was always one of our dreams to do this together. And I feel like that's more of the prouder moments that we've done together after so many years, so many people telling [us] otherwise. The journey itself is what I am most proud of," she said.

Chloe recently celebrated her birthday and Carlos took to social media to pen a heartwarming message for the singer.
"Happy birthday mahal, best cheerleader ko 🥳😘❤️✨ Ang dami kong gusto sabihin pero puro pasasalamat at paghanga sa'yo yung mga lumalabas sa puso ko. Di mo alam kung gaano ako ka-proud sa'yo sa lahat ng mga ginagawa mo. Mapa-school o work, bukod pa don yung suporta at effort na binibigay mo sa akin, grabe ikaw yung may birthday pero ako yung niregaluhan ng big time ni Lord hehe," he wrote.
