American singer and songwriter Chappell Roan spoke out about the alleged incident that involved her and the daughter of Brazilian football player, Jorginho, earlier this month. Her statement comes after she was blasted on social media for allegedly sending a security guard to accuse his daughter for being disrespectful and harassing her.
Chappell, alongside the 11-year-old fan who also happened to be the daughter of English actor Jude Law, were all dining at the same hotel in São Paulo when the alleged incident happened.
“By coincidence, they're staying at the same hotel as this artist. During breakfast, the artist walked past their table. My daughter, like any child, recognized her, got excited, and just wanted to make sure it was really her,” Jorginho recalled.
“The worst part is she didn't even approach her. She simply walked past the singer's table, looked to confirm it was her, smiled, and went back to sit with her mum. She didn't say anything, didn't ask for anything,” he added.
In her Instagram Stories, the American singer-songwriter quickly denied seeing any woman or child and recalled peacefully having breakfast.
“I'm just going to tell my half of the story of what happened today with a mother and child who were involved with a security guard, who is not my personal security,” she shared.
“I didn't even see a woman and a child. Like, I did not. No one came up to me, no one bothered me… Like, I was just sitting at breakfast in my hotel, [and] I think these people were staying at the hotel as well,” she continued.
The Grammy-winner has always been vocal about keeping her boundaries between herself and fans. Various netizens have called her out for the alleged incident that transpired in the São Paulo hotel.
Meanwhile, Catherine Harding, the mother of the 11-year-old child has also commented on the statement made by Chappell. She maintained that she is certain that the security guard that was sent to their way wasn’t working with the hotel and is working for the American singer.
“100 percent, this security guard was not a security guard of the hotel ... I don't know if he was her personal security guard, but he was with her. That is all I know. Did she send him to do it? Again, I don't know,” she claimed.
Catherine then shared that her daughter was supposed to watch Chappell and the tickets were her birthday gift as she was a huge fan.
“I think that you have a responsibility when you are a celebrity to make sure, I guess, that the people who work for you and that act on your behalf are acting on your behalf," she continued.
"Would he do that if he didn't have her authority to do so? I don't know. If he does, then, obviously, that's a big problem because then he's representing her in a way that she doesn't want to be represented,” she added.
Chappell has yet to respond to Catherine‘s statement as of writing.
