Netizens were quick to commend Chito Miranda and Gab Chee Kee after the two musicians joined a father busking to raise funds for his daughter’s medical education.
In a post shared by Chito’s wife, Neri Naig Miranda, the band frontman and guitarist were seen performing at a food hub inside the University of the Philippines Diliman campus in Quezon City.
“Nasa UP sila Chito kahapon para igala si Miggy tapos may nagba-busking daw na tatay para raw sa anak nyang nagme-med school.. Kaya tinawagan daw nya si Gabriel para tulungan yung tatay... game naman si Gab kaya pumunta sa UP Diliman agad.. Thank you, Dad and Gab!” Neri wrote in her post.
In the now-viral video, Chito sang “Your Song” while Gab played guitar, drawing a crowd of onlookers who gathered to watch the impromptu performance. At one point, Chito even introduced his sister to the audience after she gave a tip during the set.
According to a post by The Busking Community PH, the father they helped was identified as Leo Santos, who has been busking to support his daughter, a second-year medical student.
“SPOTTED: Naki-jam si Chito Miranda at Sir Gab ng Parokya ni Edgar para tulungan si Sir Leo Santos Loops mag raise ng funds para sa daughter niya! Salamat po Sir Chito! Happening right now sa Gyud Food! Mula sa Parokya, Para sa Kalsada!” they said.
In his own Facebook post, Leo expressed his gratitude and recalled how the unexpected collaboration came about.
“Ang solid ni sir chito. Lumapit sya habang nagbabusking ako, gusto nya raw tumulong sa pamamagitan ng pagkanta nya ng ilan nilang kanta. I'm so honored, we are so blessed. Angas!!” Leo wrote.
The video quickly gained traction online with more than 2.5 million views with more than 14 thousand reacts and more than 3 thousand shares on Facebook, as of this writing.
Many netizens praised the musicians for helping a father who wanted to make his daughter’s dream come true.
