Iza Calzado took to social media to reflect on the enduring spirit of EDSA People Power as the historic movement marked its 40th anniversary on February 25.

The actress recently joined the "People Power @40: Awit at Aksyon Kontra Korapsyon" event at Quezon Memorial Circle on February 21, as well as the prayer and mass rally at the EDSA Shrine on February 22, in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution.

In an Instagram post, Iza shared that while she was not present during the 1986 People Power, she carries with her the stories of her father, who participated in the historic movement.

"Hindi man ako nakasama sa People Power Revolution noong 1986 pero dala ko ang kwento ng tatay ko na minsang tumindig at nakiisa para sa bayan," she remarked.

Now a parent herself, Iza said her participation in the events for the 40th anniversary holds deeper meaning as she chooses to stand not only in remembrance of the past but also for the future of the next generation. "Ngayon, bilang isang ina, tumitindig at nakikiisa din ako para sa kinabukasan ng ating mga anak at ng ating bansa," she highlighted.

She emphasized that the spirit of the EDSA People Power lives on through people who continue to care for and fight for the nation.

"Hindi man natin hawak ang lahat ng sagot, mahalaga na hindi tayo tumitigil sa ating laban. Ang diwa ng EDSA People Power ay buhay sa lahat ng nagmamahal at nagmamalasakit sa ating Inang Bayan. Pilipinas, mahal na mahal kita," the actress stated.

Iza gave birth to her first child with husband Ben Wintle, named Deia Amihan, in March 2023.

During the International Women's Day last year in March 2025, Iza penned a post for her daughter via social media.

"Dear Deia, today, we celebrate Happy International Women’s Day. My wish for you is that you grow up in a world where gender equality is the standard and not something we have to fight for," she posted on her Instagram page.

The actress emphasized the importance of actively contributing to a more just and inclusive society. "I hope we can both be part of the force that accelerates the progress to ensure the future is better for every girl, every woman and every human," she said.

Iza also reminded her daughter to have faith in her own strength and potential.

"Remember that it all starts from you. In order to better empower others, you need to believe in your own strength, your incredible power. I pray for God's divine protection and grace to be with you and every woman, every step of the way. Happy International Women's Day, Deia! Laban, Anak!"
