When it comes to the Philippine showbiz industry, few families have drawn as much attention and fascination as the Barretto clan, headed by the late Miguel “Pikey” Barretto and late Estrella “Inday” Barretto. Over the decades, their name has become synonymous with stardom, controversy, resilience, and a deep-rooted presence in entertainment and public life.
The Barretto patriarch, Miguel – fondly called “Pikey” by family and loved ones – came from San Felipe, Zambales. He once worked in a hotel before later serving as a board member of the Subic Bay Management Authority. His wife, Inday, hailed from Iloilo and would later be widely recognized in showbiz as the mother of some of the country’s most prominent stars.

Miguel passed away on October 15, 2019 at the age of 82. Meanwhile, Inday departed on January 29, 2026 at 89. Together, they have seven children: Miguel Antonio or “Mito,” Michelle, Jose Joaquin or “JJ,” Geraldine or “Gia,” Gretchen, Marjorie, and Claudine.
Mito, the eldest among the siblings, passed away on September 23, 2025. Following his death, Claudine and Marjorie shared fond memories of him through separate social media posts. Claudine recalled having had a major argument with her late sibling in early 2025 that nearly led her to take legal action against him. After his passing, she mainly asked for forgiveness and said that it was a “privilege” to have him as an older brother. Marjorie, for her part, described Mito as their “rock,” especially after he took on the role of the family patriarch following their father’s death. Mito is married to Connie, and they have two children, Mark and John.

Michelle is the eldest daughter of the Barretto family. While she did not pursue a career in showbiz like three of her younger sisters, her name made headlines in 2017 after Claudine reconciled with her following a feud that began in 2013. Michelle’s son, Pocholo, later entered the entertainment industry and took on acting roles in television and film. She also has a younger daughter named Giselle.
Jose Joaquin, also known as JJ, is another sibling who stayed away from the entertainment industry. Over the years, however, he became known to the public for frequently sharing his sentiments and issuing statements about the Barretto family feud. He was also the one who first announced the passing of their matriarch on social media. He is married to Marichi Ramos and they are parents to Nicole, a licensed optometrist who is married to Marvin Paolo Magno, and to three sons, Anton, Andrei, and MJ.

Geraldine, or Gia, is also one of the most private among the Barretto siblings. In 2002, despite being based abroad at the time, she came to aid her sister Claudine following the death of her boyfriend, actor Rico Yan. Her name later surfaced in the family’s public feud in 2013 when she defended their mother Inday against Joaquin’s statements supporting Gretchen, whom he said provided for the family. At that time, Gia questioned Gretchen’s claims of giving financial support, saying that their father “always managed to provide.”
Among the seven siblings, three became prominent figures in showbiz, with Gretchen entering the industry at a young age. She began modeling at 12 and by around 14, transitioned into television and film after becoming a Regal baby. Gretchen later became one of the most recognizable personalities in Philippine entertainment, with fans fondly calling her “La Greta” for her fierceness and glamour.

For around 30 years, Gretchen has been in a relationship with her common-law partner, businessman Antonio “Tonyboy” Cojuangco Jr. of the Cojuangco clan. Despite their 19-year age gap, the couple remained strong throughout the years. During their 23rd anniversary in 2017, Gretchen shared that love conquers all, referencing their age difference and contrasting backgrounds. They are parents to Dominique, who is married to businessman Michael Hearn, and grandparents to Dominique’s daughter, Penelope.
Marjorie also made her mark in the industry and in public life. She was previously in a relationship with actor Kier Legaspi, with whom she has a daughter, Dani. In 1997, Marjorie married actor-comedian Dennis Padilla and they had three children together: Julia, Claudia, and Leon. They later separated in 2007. Over the years, Dennis has frequently made headlines due to his highly publicized rift with his children, which has played out through interviews and social media.
In February 2018, Marjorie introduced, Erich, her youngest child with politician Enrico “Recom” Echiverri.
Her children have since built their own personal and professional paths. Dani is busy with her wellness drink company she shares with her husband, Xavi Panlilio, and they have two children, Millie and Riley. Julia has followed in the footsteps of her mother and aunties, having starred in several hit television series and films. Claudia, meanwhile, is married to Basti Lorenzo.
Claudine, one of the most celebrated actresses of her generation, was previously in a relationship with her on-screen partner Rico Yan before his death in 2002. She later adopted her eldest daughter, Sabina, then married fellow actor Raymart Santiago, though their marriage was annulled in 2013. They share a biological son, Santino. Claudine later adopted two more children, Quia and Noah. In a 2023 interview, she shared that she chose adoption because she has so much love to give and wanted to share it, adding that her love for her biological and adopted children is equal.
