Kapamilya actress Anne Curtis revealed for the first time that she never said the iconic line–– "I can buy you, your friends, and this club." During a recent episode of Ang Walang Kwentang Podcast earlier this week, the It’s Showtime host shared more details and how she decided to own up to it despite never uttering those words.
The iconic line went viral on social media back in 2013 after an alleged drunken incident which involved Anne and John Lloyd Cruz and his group of friends. Since then, thousands of netizens have been using the line as a meme on social media.

Recalling the incident, Anne shared that her friends told her that she never uttered those words. She maintained how she had to ask her friends so that she could properly apologize to the people involved.
“Sinabi ko ba talaga yun? So that I can own up to it kung sinabi [ko]. Sabi ng mga friends ko, ‘No, you didn’t say it.’ Sabi ko, ha? All this time? But you know what, it’s so iconic now [that] I’m gonna own it,” she shared.
Despite belatedly knowing the truth, the Kapamilya actress found the line iconic as well that she lived up to it.
“Kaya nga sabi ko, you know what? It’s so iconic now that I’m just gonna own it. Yeah, I said it,” she maintained.
“Kaya nga ang daming nag cocomment ‘ay she’s in her i can buy era again. It’s okay, I’m not affected by it kasi I know the truth naman but yun nga sabi nga ni Erwan (Heussaff) sa akin, it’s so iconic now,” she continued.
Anne assured everyone that she’s no longer bothered by the iconic line. When asked why she never changed the narrative even though she knew the truth already, she expressed how she just wanted the issue to be resolved.
“Kasi at that point, anything I would’ve said parang it wouldn’t have mattered. Madaming nangyari sa gabing yun na hindi ko nalang sinabi kasi parang it makes no point bakit ako maglalaglag pa ng tao–– bakit pa? Okay na yun. Okay naman kasi tignan mo, bliness ako ni Lord ng bongga sa nangyari,” she added.

She, however, admitted that she had anxiety in the first few months that the issue surfaced on social media. The It’s Okay to Not Be Okay actress added how she found out who her true friends were amidst the whole ordeal.
“Sobrang naging importante sa akin na meron kang core group. At the heat of that, talagang parang feeling mo wala ng gustong makipag friends sa'yo kasi grabe na–– it was all over.”
“Sobrang mahalaga na yung mga friends ko–– that’s when I found out who my real friends were kasi pinupuntahan nila ako,” she ended.
Meanwhile, Anne is set to star in the upcoming film, The Loved One, alongside Kapamilya actor Jericho Rosales. This movie is directed by Irene Villamor and will be in cinemas nationwide starting this February 11.
