Kapamilya actress Awra Briguela revealed that she has plans to undergo gender reassignment surgery in the future when she has already completely decided for herself. In an interview with content creator Killa Kush on her podcast, the former child star shared how she transitioned from identifying as gay to being a transgender woman.
Awra recalled the moment she decided that she’d identify as a transgender woman was when she wanted to be treated like a woman.

“Yung moment na gusto ko mag transition na babae talaga. Before, sinasabi ko lang na gay lang ako–– bakla lang ako. Kasi wala akong balak mag transition… Kuntento na ako na ito lang nakakatawang bakla or like bakla lang na nagkakagusto sa lalaki,” she shared.
“Pero, nung nasabi ko na gusto kong mag trans, gusto kong itrato akong babae, gusto ko yung tingin sa akin babae,” she added.
When she was asked if she plans to have surgery for her gender reassignment in the future, the actress didn’t hesitate to answer yes. There are many forms of gender-affirming surgery such as top surgery and vaginoplasty, among others.
“Hindi pa ngayon, pero may plan din ako mag pa sex change. I’m too young pa din,” she admitted.
Awra then opened up about how she also doesn’t want to lose the muscle that she’s been building over the years. She claimed that she is hesitant in dissolving the muscles as it’s part of her personality over the years.
“Kasi guys, hirap pa ako mag decision ngayon kasi nga yung muscle ko hindi ako makapag decision kung papatunaw ko pa kasi love ko talaga siya. Parang it makes me so unique kaya hindi ko siya mapatanggal tanggal,” she expressed.

Meanwhile, Awra is putting a pause on her showbiz career to focus on pursuing her education. She previously shared that she is deciding between Mass Communications or Multimedia Arts for her college program.
“Kasi yun yung feeling ko connected na sa career path na meron ako ngayon at hindi ako mahihirapan iconnect yung magiging course ko sa kung ano meron ako ngayon,” she previously shared.
