MANILA — K-pop group ENHYPEN and their agency Belift Lab announced Thursday that they are donating 100 million Korean won (around P4 million) to support relief efforts for communities affected by recent flooding in the Philippines.
The seven-member act — known for hits such as “Bite Me” and “Polaroid Love” — said the contribution was motivated by their deep connection to the country, which hosted their first-ever stadium concert in Southeast Asia.
The funds will be coursed through the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association, in partnership with the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation.
"We became aware of the recent severe flooding affecting many communities across the Philippines, a country that has long been close to our hearts," the members said in a joint statement.
"We wanted to offer our support, even in a small way, and sincerely hope the contributions will be used to help those in need and assist in the ongoing recovery efforts," they added.
ENHYPEN — composed of Jungwon, Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo and Ni-ki — added: "Our hearts are with the local community and fans during this challenging time."
Belift Lab said it hoped the donation "will provide meaningful help to those affected by the recent floods."
Debuting in 2020, ENHYPEN has captivated global audiences with music and visuals that often feature a dark, vampiric lore. In just five years, the group has placed five albums in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart.
Last March, the septet performed at the Philippine Sports Stadium in Bulacan as part of their "Walk the Line" world tour.
Earlier this month, large parts of the Philippines were inundated due to Super Typhoon Uwan, which forced millions to evacuate as it submerged villages and left dozens of towns without power.
Uwan struck just days after another typhoon, locally named Tino, swept through the central islands, killing hundreds.
